So Long Tristan And Thanks For All The Fish

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I wasn't a fan of his one dimensional game but one thing you knew about the guy he brought his lunch pail every night.

All of his bricks and clangs, Kardashian dramas, ect. were worth it because of the 7 games he gave the Cavs against the Warriors in June 2016. He was hands down our 3rd most important player that series.

Don't forget Tristan's dominance on the offensive boards and defense during the 2014-2018 playoff runs. In particular, I remember series against Atlanta and Toronto where he was borderline dominant.

For as much as I was a Jonas Valanciunas guy prior to that draft, I think Tristan was a pretty damn good pick at #4. I hope he wins another title.

I didn't want to draft him, and I sure as hell didn't want to pay him $80 million over 5 years, but at least he became a player worth half of his contract. And now that he doesn't play here anymore, I won't give a shit about how the rest of his career goes.

Some of yall is too hard on Tristan, he did what's best for him and his family. Lets not forget,he did played a part winning the title in 2016.

I would have like Tristan to stay but I understand why he left. He wants to win atleast one more title before he retires.

Do I like the idea of him going to Boston...No...but if that's one of the few options he had then he had no choice.

He will always be a Cavalier and will be in the team's Hall of Fame and have his number retired one day.

Lets not forget,he played extremely hard for this organization most nights.

Raising traitors over here.

GL HF Tristan.

Cavs will soon need a C badly. Or any front court player for that matter. Drummond and even Love could be gone as well soon enough.
You gonna get fully back in Draft Whore mode for the 2021 Draft?

Supposed to be better at the top then the past two and looks decent as far as true SF, Combo Forwards, and PF/C

Plus Cade Cunningham who you probably strongly consider taking regardless of positional need.

I dunno. I don't feel promiscuous just yet.. but it will come. I'm more excited about watching our guys play and develop this season.

But yeah, the draft is supposed to be infinitely better.. I like it a lot, but who knows really. The issue I see is that at top it is compressed of mostly SG/SF and a big ass PG like Cade. I'm not sold on Mobley just yet, and I have no real insight on the other PF/C that are mocked later in the draft just yet..

So as it looks right now and it's super early to know anything, but the top 5/6 are all SG/SF with one PG that is Cunningham who might as well count as a wing because of his size.

This draft might be the best draft to select BPA as there are a lot of potential all-stars, at least on paper, so from what I have seen if we are in the top 5 this season as well, we won't be selecting yet again another PF/C. How are going to patch that hole? Selecting a PF/C or a hybrid SF/PF from this draft might have made things a tad bit easier.

And yeah, Cade seems like a pick you always take from the little that I've seen. I think this season regardless of what we do, we will need to rehab and improve some of our player's value, and especially Garland...just to have more options as far as team building goes.

I also don't want to be in a position where we extend Drummond or some other front court player just because we are completely bare boned at the C spot especially. It's always scary when players have leverage over the Cavs you know..

Normally right after the NBA draft, we have to wait 4.5 months to see our rookies and to see/scout the next draft crop.

But college basketball starts back up this week and NBA starts in a month. Next draft is only 8 months away.

I feel like Kuminga, Jalen Johnson, Ziaire Williams, and Scottie Barnes all look to be more combo forwards which is better than if they profiled more like Okoro or KPJ (SG/SF hybrids).

But I’m in agreement, looking forward to watching the following:

-how much or how little development we get from Sexton, Garland, and KPJ.

-how much initial impact/contributions we get from Okoro and Windler

-if Cedi and Nance make any final development advances and level up a bit from where they were respectively last season?

-can our team defense improve, even just modestly. Memphis had a good defensive ranking in Bickerstaff’s full season there. Sure a lot of that could have been the players, but a bad defensive coach can mess that up and he didn’t, so I’m at least interested to see if in a full season as head coach he can at least get us from dead last in defense to maybe in the 20-24 range.

This is true. Which makes it all the better cause I love the draft!

Eh, I dunno about that. They all seem like pure SF. Kuminga could perhaps play some PF.

I agree about the rest. I really want to see Windler play, and play well. Hopefully the injury is behind him.

I think we can improve defensively. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Seems like it wasn’t that long ago that the Cavs surprised almost everyone by taking Tristan with the 4th pick in the 2011 draft. As I recall, not many people projected him going that high, but he apparently blew the doors off the Cavs brass in his workout. Right away Tristan showed an outgoing & affable disposition. Undoubtedly it was the same one that helped him become such a ladies man off the court. I digress...

Tristan was the ultimate team player. He played his role, which was to rebound, defend, and get garbage buckets. He didn’t demand the ball, he stood up for teammates, & really never created waves on the court. He fit in great here, with his blue collar attitude, hustle, & positive energy. He was a great Cavalier and I think we may well see his number up in the rafters one day. It’s gonna suck seeing him in Celtic green, but, he gave his all for us, and I wish nothing but the best for Tristan going forward.

Troll much?

TT plays winning basketball. Drummond plays losing basketball.

I hope the Cavs matched that offer. I’m assuming TT wanted to move on.

He was our only hard working AND durable veteran and this team will miss him.

Sorry my mistake,

TT >> Drummond
