So Long Tristan And Thanks For All The Fish

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Raising traitors over here.

GL HF Tristan.

Cavs will soon need a C badly. Or any front court player for that matter. Drummond and even Love could be gone as well soon enough.
I'm not too worried about "centers" in today's game. Today's game doesn't require a center but an "athletic" big man (6'10-7 feet) With the exception of AD, Emibid and maybe the Jokvic there aren't a lot of dominate big men in the league anymore. There will be plenty of "athletic" big men to be found.

When a great contributor to a Cleveland franchise moves on, the best or worst of the fans personalities come out.

There was a lot of hate thrown towards Dellavedova when he took the money from the Bucks... now looking back we can agree he needed to take that money and run with it.

TT gave the Cavs his best effort for almost a decade. He is a franchise all timer when he decides to hang up his high tops. Unfortunately, the Celtics were a rival that entire time which makes this a little harder to palate, but like Omar Vizquel it's okay for other franchises to see him put in the work day on and day out to grow his legacy.

Centers are becoming increasingly expendable & replaceable in today’s NBA. That said, if we can get Drummond to agree to a 3-4 year extension at $18-$20M per, that would help bring some stability to the position. At $28M he’s definitely overpaid.

I’m sorry he was a overpaid hustle guy, that lost his hustle after Lebron left, he pouted when he didn’t get the ball, let nagging injuries allow him to sit whenever he didn’t feel like playing, I think he will try to be that hustle guy again with Boston .......But I’m not losing any sleep with him leaving.....People forget Drummond will be playing for the contract of his life, this season.........

The ultimate Homer in me thinks Drummond will get hyped on running with the young guys and getting easy dunks from Love.

Reality tells me he will look at our roster and want touches every trip down

I honestly think Drummond is worth it for ~15-18m. Anymore than that is an overpay. He is a decent but not elite rim protector and tries to do much on the other side. Sure he rebounds well, but would you rather have Drummond or Clint Capela?

Unless you have a world breaker at center (Joker, KAT, Gobert types), the position is really replacable and you can get away with a TT/Theis combo like Boston has. I would rather invest in getting better wing prospects since that is where the league is headed now.

It’s gonna be interesting because Drummond has been practicing shooting 3’s this offseason and he obviously thinks he can expand his game, which would lead to a bigger payday. Hopefully his desire to produce in a contract year doesn’t cause division within the Cavaliers. Only time will tell...

Capela is Drummond’s best comp. Drummond is better offensively while Capela is better defensively. Capela is making $18M per year, so that’s about what I think Drummond is worth. You may have to go to $20M per to secure him though.

I agree. I think Capela's youth advantage is also more in his favor right? Drummond is way ahead of him on offense but other than passing out of the high post I don't really want to see him doing too much. IMO his best role on offense will be a rim running garbage man (TT role) with the occasional high post when we have our young guards/wings swarming around him to let him playmake. I never want to see him post up or try to attack off the dribble.

He has all the talent in the world really. Good passing, capable shooting, even fine handle for his size.

It's just the head that's missing. And I worry that part can't be improved with him. I don't see a world where he is content and willing to play the role that's required of him.

Watching the highlights of TT's 35-point game against Detroit linked in the original post, you see him abusing Drummond over and over. If Drummond couldn't stop Tristan, who the hell can he stop?
