Factory reset complete and I still can't access the keyboard. I can only make calls yet I have no contacts now since I need to login to my Gmail account.

Any one have suggestions on how to fix my android razr?

If not, what are some of the better phones for call quality and internet browsing?

I had a Galaxy S3 then went to the note 4 and hate it, sometimes I feel like it just does whatever it wants to do, I"ll try and hit a button or something and it just brings up a app/talk feature that I had no desire to open. I found browsing the net on the Note with out the pen annoying at times, it will resize the browser window or tab another window. I also find my note will randomly open apps on the home screen even with the phone locked, I can't tell you how many times Pandora will randomly start playing in my pocket or Waze will randomly open. :conf (11):

I wish I got a Galaxy S6 but my S3 finally broke like 2 months before the S6, speaking of broke, I broke the screen on the S3 the week I got it and never bothered replacing it, used it for 2 years + with a massively cracked screen, my otterbox case was the only thing keeping that screen together. I really liked that S3.

Did anything start working after you logged into your gmail account? If not and you already hard reset it I'd look into using your PC to reinstall the OS. Just make sure all your Google stuff is backed up.

If it's still acting up and you don't want to reinstall the OS I'd look to see if your carrier has the Nexus 6, LG G4 or G3 (I'm guessing you're on Verizon by the current phone model you have)

Personally I have a Nexus 5 and have never had any issues with it. Love the fact it didn't come with any bloatware. By that I mean things like the Facebook app weren't pre-installed on my 5. Even had to download the standard android messages app because out of the box all texts went into hangouts.

I can't pull up the keyboard to even log into my email.

Call and put insurance on it. Wait until tomorrow, then "accidentally" spill some water on it.

Replace under insurance.

Basic. Right @David. ?

Not to hi jack this thread but I have a note 4 and updated to the new Android 5.0.1 and I can't move files to my sd card at all I try to copy stuff to my sd card and it says copy failed. I've read that with the new update that they limited permissions to use the sd card. Anybody else experiencing this issue?

Masturbate to lesbian porn. Then regroup and you'll be able to fix this on your own.

If that's the case I'd try reinstalling the os using your PC, you'll have to Google it. If that doesn't work and it's under warranty it should qualify for a replacement.

Ended up upgrading to a droid turbo. Couldn't use the phone in the slightest.

A factory-reset doesn't do shit but clear the NVRAM, EFS, cache, and application settings folders. It also deletes non-factory installed apps on the internal memory.

You're problem sounds like you had a malicious app that tried to hook your keyboard. So what can happen in Android is that applications (third-party) can replace factory installed apps. The keyboard is one such app.

To fix this, you'll need to do one of three possible solutions:

1) Go to your settings, find application preferences, find preferred keyboard, and select 'Android Keyboard.' See if that fixes it (factory reset should've done this).

2) Download Swype Beta apk file and install it (even an old version). This is a replacement keyboard application and should definitely fix your problem. You can roll with the Swype keyboard permanently as it's a superior solution to the default keyboard in non-Swype enabled phones.

3) Flash your phone. Download the factory firmware for your phone, and flash it to your phone via usb with a full charge. THIS WILL FIX YOUR PHONE. You can also just use a 1-click mod application and install a modded firmware like Clockwork or whatever, but, invariably, reflashing the phone will certainly fix the problem.

Let me know if you have any problems.

EDIT: Saw you upgraded... Will leave this post for future reference to some poor-RCF'er (or someone who finds themselves with a cheap 'broken' phone.)
