Spring Training Game 1 v. Cincinnati Reds 3:05pm Eastern

Second hand (but reliable) info from someone down in ST overheard DeLauter say to a trainer that "it hurts" when running harder, but jogging apparently was no problem. Best guess "it" is his foot.

Maybe a DH only the way this is going....
I have no doubt you have a friend that heard DeLauter say this. But there are so many different possibilities to this conversation that until something comes from it, its impossible to really know.

He could've literally been trying different cleats to find which ones felt best.

It's from another Board, but reliable poster and yes, could be anything, from (maybe even protective) gear to a certain exercise etc.

Fact remains he hasn't appeared in a game yet after missing a good chunk of last season, so if he was full go, we'd have seen him already, so something's up.

Or they might have had to amputate Chase's foot.

It's ironic his name is Chase when apparently he can barely walk.

He would still move better without his foot than you did after my momma got done with you! Lol

Joking aspects aside...

I saw DeLauter as a mid season call up, so as long as he's healthy then, all is golden...

Given the history, it is a real stretch to interpret "it" as anything other than a lower body part...foot, ankle, toe.

A problem with a piece of protective equipment would have been worked out months ago.

Some new position work today.

Freeman at SS for the first time.

Schneemann in CF for the first time.

Chase's injuries/foot issues are really starting to concern me. I seem to remember an article/blurb about him getting custom made orthotics for his cleats...

Not looking good at all but he still has plenty of time.

So far, Allen is having a bit of a rough outing .... 2 inning - 2 ks, 1 walk but 2 HBPs.... (and the walk to Roberts was close to hitting him as well).

Allen didn't have control of one of his pitches at all it felt like... But he made it through his scheduled pitch count without giving up any runs so it what's matters...

Sticks with a turd outing, 3 walks and a 2-run double down the line. Only retired one hitter. It's early...it's early...it's early...(said for my sanity lol).

One plus -- velocity was very solid, sitting 94MPH on the 4-seamer.

Update -- in Spring training you can re-insert a pitcher the following inning to get more work, so Sticks went out for the 5th, walked 2 more and mixed in a wild pitch. Faced 7 hitters, 5 walked, 1 double. This was a giant step backwards today.
