Get HDR if you want to spend the money. Go to a showroom like Best Buy, they will have HDR vs. non-HDR right next to each other. Granted showroom TV's are set to wonky settings to make them look good in the showroom.

Man, the difference between this TV and the old Vizio I had is insane. That Vizio is a POS compared to this. Just incredible

I wish there was more HDR content. Amazon and Netflix are the only streaming services with it right now. Amazon let's everyone who has prime video get HDR content but Netflix only allows people on the highest plan to get 4k and HDR.

I've actually thought about buying a UHD Blu-ray player so I can watch movies in HDR.

Any really good black friday deals? I was leaning for a 4k 43 inch tv in the 200-300 dollar price range. But I could be willing to go 500+ range if it's an insane deal. Or up to 50-55 inch for a good deal. I'm just concerned about a tv 50+ inches for gaming but maybe people prefer that since it's always the bigger tv's that have more capabilities.

This is what I'm looking at right now so far:

I would wait if you can for a 4k tv. ATSC 3.0 will come out in 2020 sometime. I would personally want the ability to watch TV in 4k over an antenna. It's the least compressed version of a tv signal and with cord cutting, broadcast tv is just going to get better. The major networks have already announce some plans to add channels. I already get 50 or so channels over my antenna, ATSC 3.0 will give the stations the capacity to add more.

There is only a handful of places you can get 4k content right now. It's far from a necessity at this point. ATSC 3.0 should change that. The built in tuners are always better than the boxes that you can add on.

Apple and Disney
The 4k HDR content from Disney+ is weird. It's alot darker and the colors aren't as vibrant as the stuff on amazon.

I'm also not sure if it's going to full 4k resolution and HDR with disney+ because I can't seem to find the on screen info to tell real time streaming stats. So I'm just relying on my eyes to figure out if it's actually in 4k and HDR.

I can't watch apple tv+ in 4k because they don't support my Samsung TV. I think my model is the one right before the ones they support.

I don't think I can wait. But a major upgrade to me for only around 300 still allows me to upgrade again in a year if I really need to. I'm trying to get better picture for this Disney+. I don't have a Ps4 Pro so I can't even run 4k, but I'd be ready for Ps5.

I noticed this as well.
I think it might be that Star Wars and Marvel have a certain color palette. HDR is darker in general but I think they can't compensate with the extra vibrant colors because it will change the look.

The Mandalorian seem to look better in 4k HDR. The darkness seem to cover some of the flaws. I watched part of Captain Marvel and it seemed too dark. I also watched Noelle and have no clue if it went to 4k HDR.

Could be the difference between the different HDR formats and how well different TVs support each of the options.
