I still can't believe people panned us for that. You're telling me we can get pick #35 to take on a contract full well knowing that contract comes off the books a year later and we will still have the most cap in the league? Yeah, fuck you if you think that is a bad idea.

I'd take that every single year if we could.

People don't understand that money is of little object to the Browns. Cap space is, but not money.

Exactly, do it again this year and add 2019 or 2020 assets, let's utilize this cap space while we can.

Amen, they act like IGAF about Jimmy Haslam's money. Let him spend it. It's not like he has a problem taking my money to watch a shitty product.

I'm actually kind of glad people made fun of that trade in the NFL circles, I think that would make it more likely we may explore that option again.

I wasn't saying it was a bad move, I was saying let's do it again. Of course it's not my money though...

Well, no need to spend it on players, so why not? Half of the roster wouldn't make another team in the league, so might as well add some more dead weight.

Furthermore the browns without that trade were under the minimum salary level anyway, meaning they were just going to flush money down the drain if they didnt make a move

The Browns spend the 4th most money in free agency last offseason, adding the best offensive guard and best center available. They also made the highest offer to the best available safety, who turned them down.

The former front office rightly decided not to blow long-term cap space on aging veterans. They paid top dollar for younger guys in their prime so that they would have enough money in future years to sign young talent to long-term deals. That was and is the right strategy for a rebuilding franchise.
