The 2013 Men's NCAA Basketball Tournament

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Siva outplayed Burke, to the surprise of many, but not me.

Were we watching the same game?

Burke had 24 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists in just 26 minutes. 7-11 from the field and 3-5 from 3.

He was the best player on the floor and it wasn't even close.

Siva took 15 shots (6-15) to score 18 points and it should have been 16 shots to score 16 points.

He was handed 2 free ones on the Burke block, which should have gone down as another miss.

While he played a solid game saying he outplayed Burke is silly. Burke's offensive efficiency was off the charts.

There is more to basketball than scoring, ya know. Especially at the PG position. Siva outplayed him in every way possible other than shooting %.

I dont know if its just me, but that Siva kid looked twice as fast as anyone on the court.

Really wasn't one call one way or the other that decided this game. Louisville just beat them fair and square. People are always going to bitch about officials, I've learned that unless it is a clearly blown call at the very end of the game usually it doesn't decide the outcome of the game. Just enjoy last night for what it was, a great championship game.

Two sides of the floor and scoring isn't the end-all. Siva played smart team basketball and made some fantastic defensive plays. The misses he had were often well-defended and near-misses. He didn't take many bad shots.

Siva meant more to his team last night than Burke did to his. Siva was the better player last night.

true, but only because he wasn't forced out of the game by terrible officiating like Burke

Siva was the better player last night.

Burke was still the better player. Siva's steals don't make up the vast difference in offensive talent. Not even close.

So have you guys heard about Peyton Siva and Jenna Shea?

Seemed like every huge call (and non call) went against Michigan.

The ones that really stood out were:

Hancock's non 4th foul (which was clearly on him). 30 seconds later it led to him drawing the 4th on McGary. He left with 9:00 left and Michigan down 2. He didn't re-enter until the 4:30 mark with Michigan down 7 and on the ropes. UL had absolutely NO perimeter depth and would have had to play a walk on for 5+ minutes. Instead, Michigan's best big had to sit during the most crucial stretch of the game.

Burke's block that was called a foul. Michigan was down 3 at that point. That call was the start of a 6-1 UL run that put them out in front for good.

Behanan getting tied up, then traveling, then somehow making a miraculous shot in which he didn't even look at the rim. The tie-up and travel both give the ball to UM, down 6 with 2:00 left. Instead UL goes up 8.

LeVert getting pushed out of bounds because Behanan was mauling Burke inside. Michigan should have been on the FT line down 4, with :50 left.

That's not even mentioning the atrocious second foul on Burke. Michigan ultimately played to even in the 1st half but Burke was unstoppable in this game. He only played 25 minutes because of that miserable call.

People are saying it was bad both ways but honestly, what is even one call that UL got that even approaches any of the calls above?

Was a great game but unfortunate the officials had to have so much influence.

Multiple late calls in that game. I saw more than one instance that they called bogus, ghost fouls on Behanan. Some calls on Djieng too. Michigan was in the DOUBLE BONUS, for upwards of about six minutes.. They were in the Bonus with about 10.

I don't know what game you were watching. What about the time where Behanan had those 3 offensive boards? You clearly see him on replay getting absolutely MAULED inside by McGary. Nothing was called and Chane still got the ball to go in.

I don't want to hear this shit about the refs being terrible only to Michigan, those refs were awful both ways.

It's disgusting to see people sticking up for Michigan on an OSU sub-forum.

Michigan was in the double bonus because they were getting fouled multiple times every single possession. How many times did a Michigan player drive to the rim and get laid out? Name one other obvious call besides McGary clawing Behanan (which Behanan more than gave back, by the way, on multiple other possessions). Watch Behanan literally jump on top of Burke sending him to the ground with no call with 52 seconds left.

Ok. That's one. Compare all of the terrible calls that went against Michigan and get back to me. These weren't 50/50 calls that were hard to judge, they were flat out bad calls or missed calls.

NO ONE HAS SAID THEY WERE ONLY TERRIBLE TO MICHIGAN. They were, however, especially terrible to Michigan, and it definitely influenced the outcome of the game. Are you going to dispute the litany of terrible calls we've listed? I didn't even mention the multiple shooting fouls against Burke and GRIII, which were shown as clear fouls on replays.

It's disgusting to see people sticking up for Michigan on an OSU sub-forum.

Reality-denying homerism is disgusting. Believe it or not, not everyone posting here is an OSU fan.

I'm not even saying Michigan would have or should have won the game, but the piss-poor officiating was a major factor. That is unfortunate for what was otherwise a great game.

So your one example of a terrible call was a play where UL SCORED on? I think all you're doing is proving my point.

Calls that went against Michigan were HUGE momentum shifting plays. Basketball is a game of runs.

Anytime one gets stopped or started by the officials, when the call is so blatantly wrong, it absolutely effects the end of games.

We're talking about miserable calls mind you, not even 50/50 ones.

The goal tend, Burke's second foul, Burke's block, Behanan laying Burke out causing LeVert to go out of bounds, Smith hitting Burke's elbow on the made 3, Behanan raking Robinson across the arms on a made jumper, Hancock cutting Morgan's legs and the foul being called on a guy who was 5 feet away.

These aren't 50/50 calls and the announcers said as much. They were absolutely blown calls by an officiating crew that couldn't get out of the way.

What is this? Communist Russia? :hail:

So what you're saying is Burke defended him better then Silva defended Burke?

I think you have a better argument in that Louisville shouldn't have been in the championship game as the refs were blowing calls left and right when Wichita State was playing them at the end of the game.
