The 2020 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not cool taking that kind of shot at those who have a different opinion on the virus, especially since I gave a formal warning to @Lord Mar for using the identical phrase on the opposite side of the argument.
The Q has a short leash for his pitchers !!!!! :) Ha Ha HA

Sorry Q couldn't resist since you manage the board. All in good fun.

So, how long until we see, or will we even see a Spring Training game at all? I can't seem to find a revised schedule on the Tribe MLB.com site.

The plan read for a possible 3 exhibition games...assuming those would be at the end of July.

Thanks to you 'both'! I thought there would be more than 3. I guess I thought they'd play more than 60 as well. Shows you what I know.

What are teams going to do when fans congregate outside the stadiums during games? Barricades? Police? Just sounds like a recipe for issues. And you KNOW fans will do this, especially here in Cleveland.

Where's the matter of opinion?

Sure seemed like @CATS44 was discussing the factual outcome of previous statements.

Discussing that topic isn't a matter of opinion.

If he were baiting someone for their current opinion on how things would proceed, that would be a different story. I don't see that happening here though unless I'm missing some context?

Any further word on this fire sale rumor? I'll be honest, it's wildly intriguing. The team was pretty much screwed by this pandemic- this really was the last go round for this core, the team was looking at a modest rebuild after this year anyway but lost out on the time to develop replacements. Just going scorched watch and maybe, possibly taking advantage of a deeper pocketed team that is willing to sacrifice to win in this shortened season and load up on prospects seems like an intriguing idea. About the only 'vet' I don't want to see go is Santana.

Actually, people have all sorts of opinions about whether a given factual claim is true. The place for posting about such virus-related factual assertions isn't in here.
I bolded the language in his post that was problematic. It was literally the exact same language about the "Mendoza line" for which someone on the "other side" got a warning a week ago:

Rona is batting well below the mendoza line.

The post by @Lord Mar was basically arguing that "this virus hasn't been as bad as some have claimed", and the second post by @CATS44 was the mirror image: "it's worse than has been claimed." Both posts invite an argument about the severity of the virus overall, and this is not the forum for such debates.

As soon as we open up this forum to those kind of comments about the virus generally, the crap will get out of hand with veiled dig about politicians, people "not believing in science", posting of various virus (not baseball) related articles and arguments, etc.. Because that's what always ends up happening, and then a lot of good posters who don't want to read that crap will leave.

This is the place to discuss baseball, not the virus., and there are ways to discuss the potential impact of the virus on baseball without crossing that line.
