Interesting move to start Plutko tonight in order to move Bieber to the opener vs Minny.

Getting Bieber against Minnesota is a bonus but not the reason for the move. If you start both Civale and Plesac today with no off day coming up then one of them would have to start on short rest the next time through the rotation. This move was all about keeping Civale and Plesac on schedule.

Not many teams can trade one of the best pitchers in baseball and then see their starting rotation go 4-0 with a 2.32 ERA and 43 K in 31 IP their 1st trip through...and thats with their 6th starter going in one of those games. The 14:1 K to BB ratio is laughable too.

I don’t put anyone else’s pitching development close to the Indians right now. They’re on another level, turning non-top prospects into one of the best rotations in baseball year after year is not easy to do.

• Kluber was our #1. He's gone.
• Bauer was our #2. He's gone.
• Carrasco was our #3. He had cancer.
• Clevinger was our #4. He got hurt
• Bieber was our #5. He's the reigning All-Star Game MVP and is now one of the better pitchers in baseball

It's stupid how successful our pitching pipeline and development has been.

Oh, and it's all without our most promising pitching prospect--Tristan McKenzie. Because he got hurt too.

So i broke down and bought the major league baseball package for $90. I am enjoying it so far. I get the NFL package, and have got the NBA package in the past. i have to admit i have been enjoying it so far. I watch all the games recorded as they start around 4:00 pm and i have work till 5 or so, but perfect for skipping commercial, pitching changes, etc.

Anyways, thanks to this section for making me feel more educated on who i am watching.

Not sure how it was on this board but over on IBI, there were those of us that got absolutely pummeled for saying anything negative about "Mickey the Great". But as time moves on, the starting pitching has only gotten better. And those that Mickey was going to fix - Cody Anderson and Danny Salazar - are no longer. One of the lasting tributes to him.

And then there was that collection of arms over in NY that he inherited and their "outstanding" performance while he was there. That bunch he labeled as even better than the tribe staff going in, which sat real well with the pitchers in Cleveland.

And now he sits atop the 4.95 ERA starting staff in Anaheim. I think we are talking the same Callaway

1. Love what Callaway did for this organization and were disappointed when he left.
2. Appreciate the further advances our organization has made in the time since regarding developing pitchers.
3. Give Bauer credit for working with multiple guys currently on our staff.

You're making us sound almost too civil over here... remember the people wanting Bauer off this team because he dared to warm-up with long toss and that he'd never amount to anything because he was too much of a nutjob?
