The 2020 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Bauer is a headcase (same with Puig). Disrespecting Tito by throwing the ball into the center field seats all but confirmed that for me.

Clevinger is a fun loving dude who just broke a rule during a "pandemic".
This just about sums it up.

Clevinger is a fun loving dude, that loves to go party, and that makes whatever damage he did to the team excusable.

Bauer is a guy that goes out there and gives the team everything he has got, including the way he prepares between starts, but he is a bad teammate.

Got to love the hypocrisy

Clevinger is turning 30 and has two more years of team control, both of which are arbitration years. He's also been kind of injury prone. IOW, he's older, getting more expensive, and hurt himself twice in the last year and a half. He wasn't hit by a line drive or gashed by a drone.

I wonder if this incident will affect the way the Indians feel about trading him, possibly earlier rather than later?

"Just having that trust in your teammates is a big thing..."

I was just kidding. Yes, it was disrespectful and a sad way to end his career in Cleveland.
It was pure frustration at his lack of ability to help the team more than he had been.

Some guys punch walls and tear up dugouts/clubhouses. Bauer throws baseballs.

Never said he was a bad teammate.

Bauer spent his early years in Cleveland plowing through co-eds at Kent State and doing the same shit Clev does now.

Times like these grow you up pretty quickly. I'm not going to judge Clevenger forever for a stupid mistake that displayed a woeful disregard for his own teammates, including a fellow starter with four kids who was diagnosed w/ Leukemia last year and is a far higher risk.

You've got to grow from mistakes, and I know Bauer made his share too.

Bauer clearly cares a whole lot more about baseball and his teammates than Clevinger does. Sure, acting out is immature, but it's also harmless.

If someone is emotionally venting, and as their manager, you focus on how that reflects on YOU, well that's just an awfully selfish worldview and very poor management. I'd hope that's not how Tito handled the situation.

Clevinger put his health, his team's health, his ability to contribute to his team, and his team's ability to play baseball all at risk. It's a giant asshole move. I don't expect us to trade him this year--but I also think he's a guy we're going to move rather than extend.
That is EXACTLY how they handled it.

It wasn't at all about TB's frustration with the fact he hadn't been able to do more for his team in '19, it was all about  Tito. And it wasn't JUST Tito. Sit Antonetti and Chernoff in that room also.

Brantley, too, huh? Kluber? These guys were known dicks, right?

The market right now is one big question mark. Teams probably aren't going to be willing to offer much in trade because who the hell knows if the season even finishes. I highly doubt, even if he doesn't 'fit the culture', that he is dealt.
100% right, he is not going anywhere.

Ultimately it is all about winning, and right now the time frame for Clevinger hasn't passed for that to happen. The financial window on players like Brantley, Kluber and Bauer closed, so winning in future years took precedence over current. Clevinger is still in the "current winning" window.

Just ask yourself if the team is better with or without Clevinger for the rest of this sprint, and the answer to him getting traded becomes obvious. Especially with the depressed arbitration prices we will probably see this winter.

And you know this how ????

Because saying someone is a partier (the same shit Clev does now), by comparing Clevinger and the drugs he does (including right in the clubhouse) to a guy who doesn't drink or smoke is a little beyond the pale of credulity

I view drinking/drugs the same as blowing off responsibilities to hang with groupies.

Shades of grey, to me.

Eventually, you've got to grow up. I hope Clev does.

Here baiter baiter baiter..

Do you not see the irony in a post that has both "And you know this how ????" and then dropping that Clevinger does drugs in the Indians locker room?

Believe it or not, this board has a few insiders too. I know a lot of posters are new here

@Gson I believe it was said in jest by Urban. AZ absolutely has a very good knowledge of the indians and I would consider him a indians "insider"

Late to this party, as I was taking last night "off". Lots has been said already, but adding my own thoughts...
Plesac and Clevinger showed themselves as at the least immature and lacking commitment as teammates/part of an organization (MLB in this case) that is struggling to maintain and complete an already odd, challenging season. Perhaps it is worse than that -- maybe they just do not care about anything other than their own wants and perceived needs? I do not know.

It is frustrating for the fans because we see this as failing us as well as their team. I would assume it is maddening to many (maybe not all) of their teammates for the health risks, betrayal of the group effort and the viability of the season that they jeopardized.

Clevinger would seem to be the greater villain as he chose to overtly lie and obfuscate. He seems to have had a history questionable behavior. I have not heard anything particularly negative about Plesac's past, but again, most of us are not privy to the inside scoop.. The Tribe's organization has to determine if these guys can continue to function well, be productive, and reasonably interact with staff and teammates. In the short term, I am sure they will find a way. It is hard to imagine Clevinger being extended when you add this matter to his health/durability issues...I certainly do not think they will trade him in this current season, but I would be surprised to see him finish his arbitration years in CLE.

Plutko taking the hill tonight is the first tangible repercussion of this easily avoidable baseball and interpersonal malfeasance...more to follow.
