I's be shocked if they could start in May, but 3-4 weeks to gather the troops and prepare for the regular season sounds about right. All this talk about MLB beginning its season in May with all the teams playing in Arizona. I dont see how the season could begin in May. That would entail beginning a new spring training in three weeks. I wonder how many Latin players would be able to fly back into the country by then.
But let's say that the overwhelming logistics could be overcome. I want baseball back as much as anybody, but if just one player, coach, manager, trainer, scout, umpire dies, is it worth it? Not to me.
Not to mention the PR hit.
But the important thing aside, what would baseball look like? 100 degree weather, thin air, and bandbox stadiums.

Military members do it all the time. It's called deployment and can last six months. And they don't get paid quite as much as these guys.Have the players, coaches, trainers, TV and radio crews signed off being caged animals being brought out once a day to entertain and not seeing their family for weeks?
What if the options are skip the 2020 season or change the way we do things?Ridiculous.
Start the season per usual (in every stadium) whenever that may be.
Fuck this Arizona bullshit.

I'd be surprised if we see any "normal" large gatherings of people in 2020. So, I'm pro-getting games started if they have the support of public health officials and are taking the necessary precautions.
Quarantining all players and staff (maybe let them bring their families too?) would make me feel more comfortable about them starting the season in the next month or two.
They're not military mentality trained members and never signed up for it. They also will only be able to play night games or start games before 10am in July and August or they will have to deal with heat exhaustion. Their best bet is a July start time in the usual closed off ballparks with limited minor leagues in Arizona at night.Military members do it all the time.
