The 2020 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think they should build a freaking retractable roof.

Right. You wouldn't build a house without a roof and invite people over in Cleveland April/September weather and expect them to show up would you?

To be clear, the city and county own the Gateway Sports and Entertainment Complex, not the Dolans.

I also do not see any way to 'add a roof' to it, it would need to be a completely new ballpark.

That said, both Jacobs Field and Browns Stadium should have been designed with a roof(or retractable roof), especially Browns Stadium. We will never host a Super Bowl without one, and the money generated from just a single Super Bowl would have paid for the damn roof. As of this year, Super Bowls generate between $300 and $500 million for the host city.

Irony: The people who back in the day insisted that the baseball stadium be an open-air stadium (it was a fairly big debate back in the early '90s when the decision was made to proceed with a new stadium) are the same people now claiming that it's too cold to attend an outdoor baseball game.

Plus, those lakefront breezes make the game far more exciting. Some days the ball pops, others it drops.

No whammy, no whammy, stop!

Were they building decent retractable roof stadiums in 93-94? Indians should definitely have one.

If I recall, it was Cleveland fans pitching a shit fit about how closed roof stadiums aren’t how games are meant to be played in Cleveland because #oldschool
But.....if we had a retractable roof, we may not have had the “Bug Game” against the Yankers. The bugs helped win that game and series. It may or may not have been open at the time. Not trying to support open stadium but I’ve been to Safeco/T-Mobile/#NextName to see the Indians vs Seattle and I feel they went cheap on some amenities to have that roof.

Some scoops from Terry Pluto.

why doesn’t Pluto do more sports writing at times since I always felt he thinks about his posts and isn’t so negative like a lot of sports writers in Cleveland

I’ve been thinking all along that Luplow could get a shot at 500+ PA this year

i didn’t think the Indians were done at least trying to make small moves and I did say Luplow towards the end of the season did start to show better ABs against RHs. It would be nice to be able to field a right handed hitting OF that we don’t have to worry about them hitting RH pitchers.

The question is who could/would be their targets when it comes to the Bullpen and OF? Are we trading for veterans or just signing guys like a Souza Jr and seeing what they can do now?

Personally I still would like a legit setup man who has been around for a minute instead of going with the winner of the talent we have. I think that should take a lot more pressure off of everyone in that bullpen
