The 2020 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It means nothing because what do we know - but the players are going to be tested every other freaking day. I assume same for all connected to them. So just based on that I think it flies.

The players may end being the safest actually of anyone since they will be testing so much and have access to doctors constantly even though they will be in close proximity to each other.

Buster Olney says he thinks there is a 5% chance the season starts at 0% chance it finishes
Did anyone tell him the sky is not falling ????

I wish he was putting money on it, I'd take him up on that for sure. 100% the season starts and 85% it finishes all the way through the playoffs.

Any idea why he is so negative on a season?

So it appears that it was Olney who made the claim about the Indians fire sale... that was repeated by Hoynes (not like he'd ever have anything first).. This is a classic ego protecting type of story.. These alleged journalist make a claim of the worst possible scenario.. doom and gloom.. the sky IS falling.. When it does, then the fans get to hear about how correct they were.. if it doesn't, then we get to hear how great the season is..

..and now cleveland dot dumb wants you to pay for hoynes' drivel?.. pass..

Thoughts?

First trade since the transaction ban was lifted.. The A's send former NYY prospect future superstar Jorge Mateo to the Padres for PTBNL..

Not exactly what you'd call a "great return" (still to be determined) for another one of the Yankees over hyped failures..

Thoughts?

Anyone know if they start and don't finish the season if this will count as an accrued season?

The players will receive service time equal to what they received in 2019 if there's no season.

As far as not finishing a season they start, I could see them extrapolating service time based on the games they do play this year.

Either way, yes, almost all players will receive a full season of service time. Midseason call ups in 2019 and 2020 rookies might get the short end of the stick.

That little dude is so full of hate since Jeff Passan joined ESPN and stole his thunder.
Olney never breaks news, unlike Rosenthal and Passan, and is basically a shoddy op-ed writer with a lot of Twitter followers.

Is that 85% finishing an adjustment for you Jup?
I'm still more in the mindset that they will almost certainly start, but more like 50% as to finishing (down from 65-70 last week) .
No fans in the stands.
Sky falling? Not a factor.

Is the impression that the PTBNL is a non-60 man roster type/cannot be traded at this time (likely), or more of a contingency based on Mateo playing time/production?

Another safeguard that was very smart that MLB did was they provided the commissioner the ability to designate neutral sites if needed. That way if a state decides to force a 14 day quarantine on a traveling MLB team the teams can go to another site instead. Not ideal but perhaps necessary.
