Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That was the first thing I thought of when I saw that Jones had been DFAd, Coach.

Then I looked a little closer.

In his career, Jones has been worse than Bauers, which is hard to do. And this year he has been just as bad.

Plus, he will still earn $1.7 mil this season.

I didn't know he was making that much before I posted something lol I doubt in the end he is worth us getting since he isn't an upgrade, but it is someone we have seen a lot of the last few years in a sense.

How about this one?

Prince Fielder 319 home runs, 1,028 RBI's, .283/.887
Cecil Fielder 319 home runs, 1,008 RBI's, .255/.827

What are the odds that a father and son would end up with the same number of home runs and come within 20 RBI's? They both played 12 years.

Vladimir Guerrero Sr had 449 home runs so I'm pretty sure the Guerreros will end up with more than the Fielders. The Bonds are in first place if you want to count Barry's steroid inflated totals.

I think the Bonds will remain the best father/son because Bonds is a top 5 player of all time.

Are we going to look at all the pitching stats from this era as inflated and say none of them deserve the hall or stats to count?

Because 70-80% of the players took some type of illegal substance and 70-80% of the pitchers today are cheating on some level.

I just dont look at the steroid era any different than say Babe Ruth never having to play against a black player like Santchel Paige. MLB has many ugly eras, plus maybe 50-100 HR are steroid HR, Bonds was a top 5 player all time without steroids.

To make a trade in June for a productive bat, Antonetti and Chernoff would have to make an offer that could not refused...an offer so good that the team we traded with would be convinced that our offer couldn't be beaten by anything at the deadline....a massive overpay.

This is something the FO will not do, simply because it doesn't know where the team will stand in late July. A trade now could end up being a loss of talent for no good reason.

**********

We are 15-11 vs teams with winning records...including 6-5 vs the Chisox and 5-1 vs the Royals We have the best record in the division at 21-12....without hitting the ball or scoring many runs, or playing good defense.

The eventual return of Franmil will help the offense.

Installing Gimenez at short and Amed in center would solve much of the defensive woes. I expect to see most of this by the break.
I don't know if that is necessarily true CATS. No more than it would take an overpay at the deadline due to a bidding war for a player. I think many teams wait until the deadline in an effort to determine their true identity. There are some teams that clearly have no shot at a postseason berth and may be willing to deal now. All we can do is speculate.

Amed hasn't been terrible at SS, and what would you do with Zimmer if he continues to hit? Amed in no Bradley Zimmer in CF and won't be anytime soon if ever. How do you keep Eddie, HRam, and Naylor's bats in the lineup? What happens when Luplow returns? Is it time to consider any offers for Eddie and Cesar? I'm completely fine with letting the kids figure it out this season, but like you suggested, this team can/could be pretty damn good.

I don't think you'll find a single person that disagrees that Franmil will help the offense upon his return. It looks as if Bradley is going to be an improvement from 1B as well. It was good to see him go oppo against a LHP. Hopefully he can continue to be productive because this team sure could use his help.

Can we trade Bauers for JaCoby Jones of the Tigers? He was just DFA'd today...
Even though Jacoby's overall performance in Detroit hasn't been much to write home about, he's an interesting player. There have been moments and there's some real good potential there with his defense/power combination, but I don't know how they would even fit him in. I don't recommend that you watch his highlight video because you'll want him in Cleveland. He's a bigger, stronger, faster athlete than most, and he can impact a baseball.

Edited to say that he has been inconsistent and is 29 yrs old. Is he a change of scenery candidate? I wouldn't argue with anyone that isn't interested in him. You couldn't refute anything. All you could say is "you're probably right".

Great; more time to dwell on 18-5 loss to worst team in MLB.

The Indians traded Jake Bauers to the Mariners for the player to be named later or cash. Cleveland designated him for assignment last weekend.

I plan to give Jake Bauers a hearty, standing ovation tomorrow at Progressive Field if he's in the lineup for Seattle. I'm getting choked up just typing this, in fact.

Jake Bauers and Babe Ruth both traded for cash! He's in elite company.

I'm very happy Bauers is no longer an Indian.
