This will certainly be a vital summer for this team after the 22-23 season was cut shorter than hoped.

Glaring weaknesses need addressed. Will the Cavs count on internal development? Will there be a major shakeup? Trades? Free agents? Coaching or GM change?

What do you think?

Let’s discuss.

nothing will change, will probably just shuffle the 15th man on the roster like as always

No assets all you can do is trade Allen but his trade value took a sizeable hit this series. I would look to trade Mitchell and see if you could get a great package back.

I'm a big believer in Garland. I think he can be Steve Nash 2.0. I think the team should have been built around him and having the ball in his hands rather than around Mitchell.

Well, the series was both a wake up call and a display of the issues we’ve talked about year.

I expect they run it back and try to build through FA and I think JB stays. So we’ll see marginal improvement next season.

We’ll continue to excel in the regular season but our offense is going to be exposed against playoff intensity defense because as it stands no amount of top-end talent will be neutralized by a lack of scheme, shooting, and physicality.

There’s no shot I’m moving Garland, Mitchell, or Mobley.

However, I’m looking for a coach who can maximize those 3 offensively. I believe many can.

JB needs to go. I think it’s wishful thinking but I’m going to wish for it.

If Allen has any legitimate value, I’d explore moving him. I think Mobley’s future is as a 5 and big bruisers are some of the cheapest commodities in the league. Allen is still a top 10-15 player at his position, but I believe his position is also Mobley’s.

I don’t give a flying fuck about the Cavs defensive rating as a team when they played at a snail’s pace. I want them to run and gun on teams while playing enough defense to build leads over the course of a high number of raw possessions. I think they have a lot of personnel to play that style well, but Allen sticks out poorly in that regard.

Allen gets moved. But, way too late now. Not physical, mopey, hasn’t developed his game and probably won’t. One less year of control.

Bench reshuffling. Let’s see if we can fill 3 bench spots with 1 MLE!

Rubio is healthy now. We swear. Old Ricky is back!…proves to be BS.

Mobley takes a step forward. Until he doesn’t.

Brobley is showing major improvement come preseason practices. Rotation bound!!…rides bench all season.

Wade is showing confidence in shot again. Fixed his shoulder. The next Kevin Love…shoots 32% from 3.

It’s all predictable.

Good God these early takes are terrible. Trading our stars for random role players is not of the Lethani.

We need to get a 3rd big so Caris/Okoro aren't playing that slot. We need more shooting. Okoro, garland and Mobley need to continue developing
.
Most importantly we need to replace JBB with anyone. Get me Air Bud

Sounds like you don’t even need to watch or post next season. You’ve got it all figured out! See you in May of 24!

Needs:

NEW COACH
Backup PG
Starting SF
Shooting PF
Bruiser C

Assets:
Allen (but probably not anymore)
Cedi (lol)
Okoro (we had our chance and I don't mind keeping him)
Second round picks

We're absolutely fucked.

Do you think Garland and Mitchell are a fit next to each other?

To be fair, I predicted Allen would collapse early on and said he should be moved. I was anti-Mitchell trade immediately. I knew the team lacked shooting length and toughness to make a big showing in the playoffs. I saw Garland wilting against high pressure playoff type defenses the last seasons.

Sometimes it’s just obvious. Now the team is low on assets unless it wants to move off one of the golden children.

It’s really not an enviable position at all.
