The 25 Worst NBA Contracts Right Now

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So I'm interested in your justification for Deng being a tier higher than Noah and Parsons.

When initially looking at a top tier, I thought about the contracts that have been offered to countless teams in the past year with nobody touching them. I threw this list together in about a half hour as a first draft, figuring other people would suggest tweaks along the way.

So while I do believe the Batum contract is pretty brutal due to length, I agree he can still be the fifth best player on your team. Noah and Deng are finished. Parsons might be able to give you ten minutes a night as a reserve.

I wouldn't be opposed to moving things around at the top. I just know nobody wants to touch that Batum contract just like nobody wants to touch those other three.

Wiggins should be in tier 1 with Batum. Wiggins literally does nothing at a high level other then Chuck up shots. If being elite at taking bad shots is worth 113 M over 4 years then cool. But despite his athletic gifts he's a shit defender, terrible passer, and softer then wet tissue paper on the glass. Dude doesn't have one positive trait in the basketball court.

J Holiday just entered the second year of a 5 year 131 million dollar deal.

Yea, but if that playoff Jrue Holiday is the real Jrue Holiday, then it looks pretty fine.

Tier 1 and now officially the worst contract in NBA History, Chris Paul at 4 years 160 million.

That's an absurd statement. Dude is still an all star, and the best pg in the nba.

He is not the best point guard in the nba. And see how awesome that contract is when he’s 36-37 getting 40M a year

It's still absurd to call it the worst contract of all-time when he's an all-NBA level player. This isn't Timo, or Noah or Deng getting the deals they got, when those teams KNEW those guys sucked. It's not giving Chandler Parsons the max despite his knees being held together with toothpicks and bubblegum.

So the last year might be a little bit of an overpay. Big whoop.

The whole contract sucks. He’s never healthy when it matters. All I’m saying is he’s not worth 40M a year.

It's a bad contract no doubt. And you two both have good points so the truth lays in the middle somewhere. What was Houston suppose to do? Also yeah it's going such when his averaging 11/6 with shit defense that last year taking a 3rd of your cap. Lebron and Chris Paul are shit player representatives and should have fought hard for the cap smoothing. Most of these contract wouldn't exist and more importantly GS can't sign KD. What a mess.

This seems like the best time of the year to start a contract value thread. The top 25 players debate is still active three years later, so lets look at the other end:

Tier One: Batum at 3 years $78 million, Deng at 2 years and $37 million

Tier Two: Parsons at 2 years $50 million, Gallinari at 2 years $44 million, Ibaka 2 years $44 million, Noah at 2 years 38 million.

Tier Three: Mahinmi 2 years $31 million, Biyombo 2 years at $34 million, Gorgui Dieng 3 years at $48 million.

Tier Four: Wiggins at four years at $113 million, Conley three years at $97 million (team option last year), Brandon Knight 2 years at $30 million, Mozgov 2 years at $33 million.

Tier Five: James Johnson 3 years at $46 million, Omer Asik 2 years at $23 million, Patty Mills 3 years at $37 million, Tony Snell 3 years at $34 million, Dion Waiters 3 years at $36 million.

Tier Six: Ryan Anderson 2 years at $42 million, Dennis Schroder 3 years $46 million, Pau Gasol 2 years at $32 million, Tristan Thompson 2 years $36 million, Dellavedova two years at $19 million, Cody Zeller 3 years at $43 million, Meyers Leonard two years at $22.

Bubble:Ken Bazemore, George Hill, JR Smith, Wes Matthews, Dwight Howard, Evan Turner

Thoughts?
Dwight Howard got brought-out right?

Dwight Howard got brought-out right?

Did it already happen? I hear that cupcake might join the Warriors, so top 25 bad contract if he wasn't stretched yet, top 25 pussy if he has already been stretched.

On CP3, it's not a top 25 bad contract yet, but give it a year or two.

Chris Paul is always good for an important injury. Houston had to sign him though.

Not a chance.

Houston is competing for a championship and can't let CP3 walk, but he was outta there unless he got a max deal. Dude just put up 10.2 WS and a 24.4 PER last season.

Second best TS% of his career last year. Played fantastic in the playoffs last season until he got hurt.

Literally the only chance this contract busts is if he suffers a major injury that completely deteriorates his skills. Chris Paul is twice the player John Stockton was, and Stockton was damn effective up until he was 40 years old. Chris Paul will be just fine at 36 - not worth $40 million - but just fine.

My guess in 3 years, LeBron will have a couple of Lakers up on that list
