Love reading all the butthurt on that Twitter thread.

The Browns have been the butt of every joke in the league since they returned, and now that they’ve got swagger and outspoken confidence, people are crying? Fuck the NFL. I hope the Browns run the league for the next decade, if for no reason other than that.
 
This is probably the biggest turn in popular opinion from NFL fans on a Browns player. Yes, people had issues with the Hue stuff, they had issues with Baker's other comments... but never have I seen the hatred transform into the monstrosity that it is now on Twitter and Reddit. People that supported Baker through everything in the past are really upset about these comments. They loathe the Browns and want us to lose badly... this isn't an understatement. Understandably so - there's no defense to these comments about Daniel Jones.

It's 100% official now - we are the villains. To some, perhaps in surprising fashion since we had every reason to dream of being America's team. It felt like destiny. But just as great things were expected of Anakin Skywalker from the jedi order, things took a sharp turn.

Don't feel sad, don't play the fence... you're either on this train or not. Embrace the hate and let it flow through you - this is who we are. I'm not holding back - Baker took us here and he's my QB... so F the world.

I don’t like it. I don’t want to be the l villain. I don’t want to be hated, being laughed at was troubling. I want to be the feel good story for once.
With that said, it is what it is. Baker better put up or someone is gonna make him shutup.

I realize it's a shock. To look in the mirror and come to a ground-breaking epiphany: you are the bad guy.

It's tough, I know. Accept and embrace it. We're the villains now whether you want to be or not. Baker took us there and I have full faith he will take us to the trophy. I'm willing to sacrifice my soul for that.

Why would anyone want to be hated? I'd rather be humble, underdog, overachieve and earn the respect. Being the villain and setting a high bar just adds some really unnecessary stress and expectations. I enjoyed the positive comments by every other fans and media.
 
Sounds like the second half of that Daniel Jones quote was out of context. He said he couldn't believe the Giants took Daniel Jones, then when asked about why NFL teams couldn't get QB right he said they overthink it.
 
The same New York media that slammed the Jones pick is now butthurt that Baker Mayfield is doing it.

Yawn, who cares? That story does not make us villains, you guys get wayyyy too caught up in twitter fauxrage. Nobody outside of New York or Cleveland will even remember this in 24 hours.

Personally, I enjoy reading all the butthurt Twitter comments.

I am fine with being the villain. It was always going to happen anyway with Baker at QB the second we started winning. He's the type of guy you hate when he's on another team.

Personally, I don’t really care either way. But yeah, hatred is inevitable once you start winning. Just win, baby.
 

So everyone else is allowed to bash the Giants for reaching on Jones. But when Baker does it, he’s a dick?

We’re about to be the most hated team in the league. If we win, I’m all for it. Like Marcus said, we’ve been the butt of the jokes for 20 years. Fuck em all
