Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That’s circumstance, not reflective of actual improvement in play.

While it’s fortunate that the schedule loosened up a bit, they can’t continue being this inefficient and squandering prime opportunities.

There really is no excuse for it, given the talent.

No disagreement here. The timing and in particular OBJ’s hands have been awful all year. Hopefully playing against some softer defenses will help.

It should.

Also so glad that they didn't feel Baker and OBJ needed some familiarity time in the Pre-Season.

Kitchens' whole blasé approach to getting the team ready to play during the Pre-Season is now, in hindsight, a huge foreshadowing of his approach to preparation.

Terry Pluto hot take incoming. Agree, partially agree, or completely disagree?

Mason. Rudolph. is. not. better. than. Baker. Mayfield.

Exceedingly unlikely that Allen is better, either.

Don't care how down anyone is on Baker. But if you want Rudolph or Allen over Baker, then you're a fucking idiot.

All I've seen is the National Media praising Josh Allen for his improvement this year.

Dude was fucking TRASH today. And we are about to see the Browns against Mason Rudolph.

These QBs have no ceiling, at all, to be legit QBs in this league... They're career back ups going forward. I think Allen just is trash. Rudolph is not very good, everything is done outside of him. And he's just basically asked to not fuck it up and make a few throws here and there. But his arm sucks. He can't really make the throws.

Baker can make all the throws, is miles better as passer than both of them.

Baker is much, much, better than he's played this season. That's what is so depressing about this year. We know he's better than this.

And he's much, much, more talented than both of them combined. By a large margin.

Judging by the amount of HJ's the national media is giving Lamar Jackson? That will be likely what they move on to next.

You'll see him get Gatorade ads and crap in the near future. People will be like "BROWNS COULD HAVE HAD HIM AND BARKLEY", etc.

Baker’s problem has never been talent, that’s obvious. He made throws today that guys like Rudolph and Allen could never dream of making.

His problems are with tunnel vision, timing, and questionable decision making (which usually stems from overconfidence). The good news is those things are all correctable, but it makes having a good coaching staff incredibly important.

Lamar Jackson here, we’d be in the same boat. Maybe worse. It’s depressing. We are never the ones who develop the studs. Thought that was finally changing. Maybe it still is. Even after today, I need to see a lot more. That still looked nothing like 2018.

I thought Baker looked really good outside of the shoulda been picked off throw, personally. He was putting the ball in really good spots, even on balls that weren't caught.

He needs a coach.
I pointed out...imagine him being coached by John Harbaugh instead of a guy who should be runningback coach for Jacksonville or something

I think he'd be a freak right now.

Which is going to be why that argument in itself is going to be infuriating because people will refuse to believe in context and rather are going to believe otherwise.

One interesting thing to note, given all the commercials, social media, and other distractions (Barstool sports)

Remember on Hard Knocks when Hue pointed out that Tyrod "had a little thing" each morning, where he would come in early and work on things, and he asked Baker where his thing was? And Baker kind of blew him off... worried this guy doesn't have the work ethic of a Brady, Manning, Wilson, or even (gulp) Lamar. Not condoning Hue, but even with the win today, lots of bad throws, missed reads, and sacks (taking a safety in a two point game!). Wouldn't be against getting a mid round developmental QB to push Baker next year. Let's make him earn the job in 2020.

Yeah i'm sure I'm going to trust the judgement of the worst NFL coach of all time.

A man that would consistently refuse to take responsibility, actually brow beat Mayfield with this bullshit abut "earning the 2nd string", and then took a job with the Bengals the very season he was fired.

"Let's make him earn the job in 2020"

Let's not.

"not condoning Hue" kinda addressed this in the first post....

Just trying to get better. He has regressed this year and we are all wondering why. Maybe if the rook is doing a dawn patrol film session, Baker will be less likely to be at Sam's Hot Car Lot for a money grab. Idk, just a thought,

How can you question a guys work ethic that you have no idea about.

I mean it’s so ridiculously ignorant to do so and taking a mid round QB when we have so many holes on the offensive line and defense is just not even a reasonable thought at this point.

Also not sure if you watched the game or not because Mayfield was great today. Not sure what kind of bar you have set for this kid on a game by game basis in his second year.

Watched the entire game. He had a good game. But should have had at least one INT and also missed Odell deep a number of times. Plus that safety sack just can't happen. I'm just saying in general, a fifth or sixth developmental QB isn't the worst idea. Heck if it's a bad idea I guess Belichick doesn't know what he is doing!
