Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'd really love to see Baker progress with a guy like McDaniels. I'd go all out for him. One of the best offensive minded guys in the game. Has tons of coaching experience under Belichick. Would be the perfect guy for Mayfield.

Watched the entire game. He had a good game. But should have had at least one INT and also missed Odell deep a number of times. Plus that safety sack just can't happen. I'm just saying in general, a fifth or sixth developmental QB isn't the worst idea. Heck if it's a bad idea I guess Belichick doesn't know what he is doing!

The Pats dont have the holes we have which is why the consistently trade their picks and can afford to take mid round QBs.

We need to address our deficiencies which certainly don’t start with Mayfield.

He’s improving within the season and despite bad coaching. That’s all we can ask for at this point.

Every QB in the NFL is going to miss some open throws and make some mistakes. Today he was good and we won in large part because of him

My short list of HC candidates I would want here:

Riley
Jim Harbaugh
McDaniels
Beniemy
McCarthy? Maybe?

Another plus of getting McDaniels (I know its a long shot). Is Mike Flores will probably get canned after this season, and he might bring him in as a DC...

I thought Flores did a very a solid job as a DC last year for the Pats.

Yeah I mean I hear you about the holes in the line. Look he played well today. I think he didn’t realize the difficulty level was going to go up a notch this season. With a buddy buddy coach like Freddie, maybe a rook to push him to greatness would be good. Just a thought. At the end of the day I want Baker to reach his potential.

Flores won't get canned.

I think most of you are going to be sad when Freddie doesn't get canned after the year either. I'm hoping that they can get a good QB in here to coach up Baker though.

Judging by the amount of HJ's the national media is giving Lamar Jackson? That will be likely what they move on to next.

You'll see him get Gatorade ads and crap in the near future. People will be like "BROWNS COULD HAVE HAD HIM AND BARKLEY", etc.
Why would they want a worse back than Chubb?

Oh well. Still would go all out for McDaniels. If want our McVay.

Ask what his price is after the season.

We know McDaniels can coach and is the one guy that's not a byproduct of Belichick. Baker badly needs someone like that as his coach.

He was much better today. He's terrible at picking up the blitz, but Freddie did a good job with pre-snap motion, so that mitigated Baker's weakness. It let Baker do what he is good at while maximizing our other playmakers.

My bigger issue is that Baker and OBJ still have absolutely no chemistry. It's been nine games. That's got to come at some point.

I agree, and Baker missed him earlier on the first throw of the game. But I actually thought Baker did a much better job integrating him.

White blanketed him all game, and at times Baker made good throws, Beckham struggled to make contested catches.

Just not impressed with Beckham thus far. Some of it is lack of chemistry, playcalling, but a lot of it is Beckham himself, too.

Landry has just been better. And that's not what we got Beckham for. To be the second guy on the team.
Beckham has been a big disappointment so far.

Last 3 games:

235 yards per game, 4 TD's, 1 Int, 65% completion.

Considering who they have played and how they were performing, this is a very good step in Baker's development. Certainly not gaudy numbers, but he has really taken care of the ball (his INT was the shovel pass where no one blocked Lawrence Guy) and is playing well enough to win.

He placed 13th in DYAR each of the last 2 weeks - better than, if you can believe it, both Brady and B.Allen in those weeks, due to defensive adjustments - and 11th this past Sunday, with J.Allen at 15th despite his getting rush DYAR credit for his TDs.

Jarvis was also the #3 WR or TE this week by DYAR.
