Could you give me any realistic reason why you think it's mostly Baker and not Freddie?

It's clearly both, imo. Freddie doesn't make Baker constantly throw behind his WRs. Freddie isn't responsible for Baker's cancerous attitude.

I know it is frustrating, but a lot of good QBs had sophomore slump issues.

He has the tools, but for some reason this year he isn't thinking things through or adjusting well.

The O-Line is an issue, the play-calling and the rough start has him trying to force shit.

I think he is going to be putting in a lot more work this off-season. There is probably some truth in the thought that he spent way too much time being the Next Big Thing rather than working and we now know Freddie is a huge part of the lack of discipline.

Under a good coach, and some reflection, I think he bounces back big time.

His attitude turns me off more than his terrible play. I was done with him when he threw Myles under the bus.

The guy ran from the cops before his senior year at OU and got his head bashed into concrete because of it. He planted a flag on block O. He threw his teammates under the bus several times. Threw the Browns' medical staff under the bus. Criticizes the media for asking him legit questions. He's a giant douchebag and doesn't compensate for it with stellar play.

I thought Freddie was the mastermind behind Baker’s good rookie season? Now he’s the goat? Yeah, Freddie is ass nobody will deny that but just pinning everything on him and assuming the next sucker we bring in will have Mayfield playing at an All Pro level is... sigh. Maybe I’ve just given up hope on this team ever turning a corner.

Can blame Freddie for getting Baker too involved, ignoring Chubb/Hunt. Can blame Freddie for not teaching whatever his system is to have some mechanical breakdowns with route spacing at some sporadic times.

Can’t blame him for Baker’s failures. Receivers are often wide open, Baker is throwing some of these passes with his feet parallel, not pulling the trigger on some, just consistently inconsistent in a way that is unacceptable.

Freddie’s biggest challenge is that the offense is at its best when Baker is less involved.

That’s a problem. You can claim it’s Freddie’s fault for not having him ready, perhaps that is somewhat true.

But at the end of the day, players gotta play.

Freddie Kitchens is bad at more things than just coaching Baker Mayfield. His problems are bigger than getting Baker to play better. Trying to make it seem like outside of Baker Freddie is fine is just wrong. he has issues that go beyond Baker Mayfield. That's why most people want him gone. He's not a QB Coach or an OC. He's supposed to be the HC but he clearly cannot handle that.

I think there is plenty of blame to go around. The offensive design is bullshit, the amount they are putting on Baker is way too much for a 2nd year player, and he clearly came into the season unprepared for what was needed for this season, although was given affirmation to not be prepared by Freddie.

Freddie is a good play designer, and he calls a fairly decent game at times. But he doesn't know how to establish an identity and he expected Baker to be MVP level in his play. When looking around the league, very few guys were ready in their second season to play at a level that Freddie expected. Then he basically gave Baker free reign to do whatever he wanted during the offseason.

It's clear as day now that this team needs an adult to run the team. Freddie was great last year when he wasn't expected to lead the team and set the example. We can lob grenades at Gregg all we want, but at the very least he is an adult in the room. Freddie is nothing more than a high functioning alcoholic that acts like he's twelve and it permeates the team.

I feel like if Baker was in Buffalo or Baltimore, he'd be hailed as the next savior. Furthermore, I'm fairly certain that none of the 2018 QBs would be succeeding in this offense and that includes likely league MVP Lamar Jackson. This Monken/Kitchens mash up offense is so poor, and doesn't match what the Browns have in their arsenal on offense. I thought that Kitchens would bring some of the Monken passing concepts into his power football, and instead they created this weird, pass happy shotgun offense that's based on short PA timing throws. It's so poorly designed that it will almost immediately be discarded when the season ends.

I still see the arm strength and natural accuracy from Baker. But he's not Patrick Mahomes and I don't think he's a guy you can slot into any system. I wish the Browns would rely on the running game much more and let Baker naturally develop into the strength of the offense.

Every week this guy is apologizing for something stupid.

Yes. Like I literally stated Freddie is ass in my post.

I agree. Baker sucks. I miss the ole good choir boys like McCoy, Weeden, Kizer, Quinn. Those were real Franchise QBs, they let their play speak.
Don't forget ol' Noodlearm, who -- like Mayfield -- was the #1 overall pick. Baker's current season stats have a lot in common with the typical Couch season, including the elusive more INTs than TDs stat.

Another thing they have in common: "Everyone else's fault."
