Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I agree. Baker sucks. I miss the ole good choir boys like McCoy, Weeden, Kizer, Quinn. Those were real Franchise QBs, they let their play speak.

Yup.

And say what you want, but At LeAsT jOhNnY fOoTbAlL dIdN't ThRoW hIs MeDiCaL sTaFf UnDeR tHe BuS.

Looks like a different team and a different Quarterback at times.

Baker is about 20 pounds slimmer and much lighter on his feet here. A lot more snaps under center and use of play action. Protection is 10x better than anything we've seen this year...

I don’t know. O line was fine against Cinci. Only allowed 4 hurries and 1 sack yet Baker puts up a 38 QBR.

His stats were hyper inflated from garbage time, but another clunker from him

At this point it’s just gotta hope that next year he comes back strong. Because he’s legitimately been a bottom 10 QB this year which is embarrassing and inexcusable

Not even sure it’s worth discussing at this point because it’s been blatantly obvious he has not been good and has regressed a lot under Kitchens and a new QB coach this season.

No one will disagree.

Have to get him better coaching and improve the offensive line and evaluate next season. Which is likely his last go at it.

One hopes that this season is a wake-up call for him.

One gets the impression that his historic success last year might have gone to his head a little, along with all the celebrity stuff. It might have fooled him into thinking "Hey, this is easy!"

I expect that we will see a leaner, meaner Baker next season after a rigorous summer of working with some folks to up his game mentally and physically.

Of course, if he doesn't then we might be looking for a new QB in 2021.

Isn't the 2021 QB class supposed to be stacked (again, I do not watch much college football anymore, so I'm honestly asking)?

If so, while it is obviously much more preferable that Baker succeeds, we could've walked into many worse collapsing buildings than this one.

I just don’t see a high ceiling. The NFL has this guy figured out.

Where is he suppose to go from here? God did not bless this dude with speed and footwork to make up for his height. The overall talent needed for him to be successful at this level just isn’t there.

His biggest problems are in his reads rather than physical.

He isn't hitting the open guy and he is forcing too much.

You're right that teams adjusted to him. Now he has to take his cognitive ability to the next level.

It’s scary we had to waste a season for this to occur, but I would take it.

If he isn’t drastically better in 2020, the search begins again.
