Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I was a Darnold guy. Hell no on Rosen and Allen.

My biggest bitch was we could of gotten Baker and Ward later and gotten picks.

In my mind(it is not very stable or intelligent) this is how it should of went down:

Clev 1st pick for Giants 2nd pick and 2019 2nd rounder.

1. Giants--Barkley RB

Clev 2nd pick for Buffalo 12th pick/22nd pick/53rd pick

2. Buffalo--Allen QB
3. Jets--Darnold QB

4th pick for 5th pick/99th pick

4. Denver--Chubb DE
5. Browns-Mayfield QB
6. Colts-Nelson OG

Clev 12th pick/53rd/99 for 7th pick

7. Browns--Ward CB

22nd--Wynn OT
33rd--Leonard LB
35th--Chubb RB

Sasha could of pulled it off. LOL

There is ample evidence suggesting Baker would not have made it past the Jets at 3. Patriots were trying to trade up and get him.

Ward may have been a reach, but given how corners are currently valued, I’m good with that reach.

just watched 1st pick again. Wow Herbstreit said it should be Baker. Forgot that.

Pats didn't have enough to get that high. I agree they liked him. I believe Jets were on Darnold no matter what.

If Ward stays healthy it was a great reach.

I hear this spouted off a lot, but it has no foundation. Just because Mel Kiper or Gil Brandt didn't have Mayfield #1 on their board, doesn't mean other teams didn't. Same with Ward at 4.

I love what Sashi did for this team, but he accumulated those assets so the org could pounce when opportunity presented. Not so they could chance their future quarterback sliding down the draft board to accumulate more.

You can believe that stuff all you want... but there is not much evidence that Baker lasts to five. There is also no way the Bills take Allen above Baker.

Guys I said I didn't have the most stable or intelligent mind. I just like to mock drafts and do a lot of trade downs. Just having fun with draft not stating any facts.

Go Browns

Main takeaway: Ryan Hollins is as bad on these shows as his play was on the Cavs.

It's kinda weird that he is a commentator now... He is a 7 footer with all the athletic ability in the world, and still was not above average in nba basketball... Now it's annoying everytime he give his hot takes and acts like he is an basketball or other sports expert when he didn't have the game to back it up during his nba days with the tools he had. ..

There is a zero percent chance of any of this happening.

The Jets, Patriots, and Broncos all had eyes on Baker.

It's pretty much confirmed that Elway was in love with him and would've snagged him in a heartbeat.

I was a Rosen guy.

When we selected Baker, my reaction was "Eh, hope he's the best QB in this class"

The only fans who deserve ridicule are the ones saying take Saquon at 1 and whatever QB is left at 4.

False.

Any fan who trashed Baker before the draft because he “played in an offense where guys were wide open all the time and he only made one read.” Deserves to be ridiculed.

I'll be honest I think you crossed a clear difference in how some posters felt. there were certainly posters like myself as an Oklahoma fan that had concerns of whether he can make the transition to the NFL.

however there is a totally other subset of posters that were vehemently against him and made arguments such as he only ever had to make one read per game as all his throws were determined for him.

Those are two totally different sets of people. The ones that felt concern I believe that was warranted, the ones that made up reasons not to like him, that's something different.

That said none of us are NFL scouts and they miss more than they hit.
