Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I was a Darnold guy. Hell no on Rosen and Allen.

My biggest bitch was we could of gotten Baker and Ward later and gotten picks.

In my mind(it is not very stable or intelligent) this is how it should of went down:

Clev 1st pick for Giants 2nd pick and 2019 2nd rounder.

1. Giants--Barkley RB

Clev 2nd pick for Buffalo 12th pick/22nd pick/53rd pick

2. Buffalo--Allen QB
3. Jets--Darnold QB

4th pick for 5th pick/99th pick

4. Denver--Chubb DE
5. Browns-Mayfield QB
6. Colts-Nelson OG

Clev 12th pick/53rd/99 for 7th pick

7. Browns--Ward CB

22nd--Wynn OT
33rd--Leonard LB
35th--Chubb RB

Sasha could of pulled it off. LOL

False.

Any fan who trashed Baker before the draft because he “played in an offense where guys were wide open all the time and he only made one read.” Deserves to be ridiculed.

So that narrows it down to...nobody.

But its nice to see we're not content in having an honest discussion about the arguments against Mayfield heading into the draft.

We can't just be content that he worked to overcome any concerns about his offense.

The Jets, Patriots, and Broncos all had eyes on Baker.

It's pretty much confirmed that Elway was in love with him and would've snagged him in a heartbeat.

Baker was always going to be the first QB off the board. If the Browns did not select him #1, we would be starting Darnold if we were lucky and Josh Allen if we weren't.

I cant believe im going to spend the time to respond to this, but this is nuts.

1) why would the giants want to trade up to number 1? No team was going to jump them just to take barkley. This was a QB heavy draft with a bunch of teams that needed a QB. If a team was trading up to number 1 they were going to take a QB. So your first trade off the bat is ridiculous.

2) why in the flying fuck would the Bills trade up to take Allen as the first QB taken in this draft? In no world was Allen the number 1 QB prospect out of this draft.

3) the jets were going to take Mayfield at 3, if the browns didnt take him

So youve got 3 things that were never goign to happen in your fantasy world, in order to take undo risks. In a situation the browns were in they figured out which QB they wanted, and took him. They made the correct move.

What would be a better thread to re-read from page one, this one or the Finals Game 7 thread? Drafting a QB like Mayfield kind of feels like a championship to be honest.

The hot takes in here after we drafted him were insane... "he is Colt McCoy," "he will max out as an average QB," "he'll be in the CFL in three years," and "he has a weak arm" were by far my favorites.

I would suggest starting from around post #830. That's about the start of camp.

The Johnny Manziel comparisons were the best ones...

I hated those and called them lazy. He was nothing like Manziel. I wasn't pro Baker, but my only issue was the lack of success of Big 12 qb's makes it hard to evaluate because the defenses in the Big 12 are just so awful.

To my defense, later in an interview Baker laughed at how bad the Big 12 defenses were.

Don’t make me put you in a body bag twice in two off seasons.

Double the bag up.

Insecure male trash talk isn’t of all that much interest to me, just asking you to be honest.

Insecure of what :chuckle:

The honest truth is you said and made up some bullshit about Mayfield and didn’t like him for all the wrong reasons. And when you come to talk about it you still are in full on denial that you were just flat out completely wrong and just had a hard bias against him for god knows why.

Your eyes betrayed you. That’s the honest truth.

And now when I come and even slightly joke about it, you, being insecure come firing back every time because you can’t leave it untouched that I said you were wrong. In fact you can’t leave it untouched any time someone says you were wrong, even when you were in fact JUST FLAT OUT WRONG.
