Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Watch it Baker... let's make the playoffs before you bite the hand that feeds you....ie ohio state fans.

since we had every reason to dream of being America's team.
I have never wanted to be and I will never want to be America’s team

I don’t want bandwagon fans that have never been to Cleveland or Ohio who spent the last entirety of their lives talking about how horrible Ohio is to live in and how the browns are the mistake by the lake to now grab orange Pom poms

They can go fuck themselves. I want the people that watched Greg Little dropping balls after being drafted in the second fucking round. I want the people who debated the Vince Mayle pick only to see him cut before he ever played a game for the browns

I want the people who remember that fat walrus saying not to come to him for playoff tickets because he drafted Brandon fucking Weeden and Trent Richardson. I want the people who remember Mike Pettine’s spa and resort masquerading as a training camp. The people that watched Oniel Cousins start on this line. The people that remember that they can’t look at fatass Cam Erving’s fingernails

Those are the diehards who i want on board. And honestly casual fans are fine too. But not the people who slam a state they’ve never been to because they parrot everything they’ve ever heard and can’t think for themselves.

Fuck them. This isn’t America’s team. This is Cleveland’s team and I hope that never changes

Poor form, IMO. Needless shot at a young player he could have gone out of his way to say a kind word about even if he doesn't really buy his talent.

He's a star, not a pundit. There is a difference.

But my level of interest in this is at roughly 6.9%

nice

Anyone that thinks the browns are hated around the league is delusional. I live in Baltimore I work with several Ravens ticket holders and the response I just got was laughter when I asked if they hated the browns. Same thing from the Patriots fans, same thing from the Steelers fans, same thing from the Redskins fan.

A couple complimented Baker, a couple thought he's an ass, but no one hates the browns

This is probably fair, but I think they are quickly wearing out their "lovable losers persona". The hatred will come when they start winning consistently

Not that I care at all about the public's perception of the Browns, although being the laughing stock was certainly getting old.

I mean, there is a pretty big difference between fans or the media bashing Daniel Jones vs. Baker doing it publicly

Just seems like a weird shot to take at a guy who is in a similar situation that Baker was in a year ago.

At the same time It is unclear how “on the record” that quote was. It’s not like he went up to the podium and started bashing Jones. He was at GQ and a Giants/Jones story came across the TV and he commented.

Inject this into my veins.

I think that is rapidly changing. We're obviously not there yet as we haven't had a winning season since 2007. But the seeds have been planted.

You mention speaking to a few Ravens and Steelers fans but say no one hates the Browns? You've gotta be living in a bubble.

For all the talk about "Die Hard Fans" and the new Baker fanboys, it's the same as when LeBron showed up again. I am definitely the guy who wandered into a bar that carries the Browns and had fans of other teams crack jokes. I've had people flat out not know which team has Brown jerseys.

But now I'm seeing random people congregate over and talk about being Baker fans through college. I'm seeing some OBJ gear. Know what? I'll take it. They brought Stone Cold with them.

This.

I rooted for the Patriots over the Rams in 2002, because the Pats were the underdog and the Rams were the juggernaut.

In 2019, completely opposite.

Since 1999, vs. the Browns, I believe the Ravens are 30-10 and the Steelers are 34-5-1

It's kind of hard to have that same hate in your heart when you have dominated a team year-in-year-out for nearly 20 years

Happened with the Cavs. And the Warriors. Everyone loves an underdog when it doesn't affect their team's ability to progress, but once you're out there beating a team in the playoffs and celebrating... Quick turn.
