Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's time to start counting Dorsey's misses, as they are adding up...

Corbett
Baker?
Freddie
Zeitler for Vernon
Chad Thomas
Cutting Nassib
Heck I'm even starting to worry about Ward...so injury prone

my god I hate our fucking fans.
THEY WERE AN O AND 16 TWO SEASONS A GO.
THEY WERE AWFUL.
CARL NASSIB WAS ON THOSE FUCKING TEAMS.
"IT'S TIME TO START COUNTING HIS MISTAKES?"

Fucking REALLY? You're gonna play that goddamn card?

Same fucking idiot cleveland mentality that attempted to run Belichick out of goddamn town in the 90s.

Where did that fucking get us?

cut the shit.

Leave it to us to choose the worst among Wentz, Watson, Darnold, and Allen.

I think this is a bit overboard.

Part of what made Farve eventually great was his ability to curb his lows, while retaining an incredibly high percentage of his highs. That’s really the same transition Baker needs to make it through.

Mayfield still makes throws that very, very few guys can. Like the laser beam to Landry, in a pinhole, on 4th down.......he just also makes throws like his INT to him as well.

But in general, I just don’t think it’s that hard to coach out of Baker much of what ails him, I just don’t think we currently have the staff to do it.

Mayfield's accuracy being gone is really strange. Makes me think its temporary.
What's important is that he takes chances still. You can't win the in the NFL if you are unwilling to take chances.
Great QBs find the happy medium with their risk-taking, and have the talent to live in that window continuously.
We saw Baker live in that window continuously last year. So we know he can do it.
That's what's been so disappointing. We got this amazing taste of what a QB living in that window looks like... which is elite.
Now we see its not so easy to stay there.
Let's give Baker some time... until then... yeah, this isn't fun.

I don’t agree with Baker being considered a limited prospect

and I disagree with him having a limited ceiling

he’s still a 24 year old second year QB. I get that he was the #1 overall pick so expectations are sky high, but what limitations does he really have? @AZ_ I’ve never seen you bring up his height as a serious limitation so if you don’t consider that then I’d be surprised if you don’t agree that he has no physical limitations

which is huge because that’s pretty much the only unreachable things

his struggles this year have been frustrating, but they’ve all been things he can improve upon. I get it’s as cliche as a saying gets but “he has all the tools”. And he still is young and has a ton of potential. Even if this year he has been rough.

but I will also point out again that the company that grades every play of every game ranked him the 12th best qb this year! Now I have watched a loT of NFL this season but I haven’t even watched a full game of every QB this year so I can’t really comment on how I think he ranks against the field other than I think he ranks worse than 2018 baker Mayfield. But honestly, what limitations did 2018 baker Mayfield show? Because he looked like an elite franchise qb

Don't care about height.

Maybe he can fix the issues that plague him, but at this point it doesn't look like he has.

He has to find a consistent rhythm with his receivers and be more accurate, his style of play demands it. Otherwise, as we've seen, his accuracy is just never going to be as consistent as you need it to be.

We could haggle over what "elite franchise QB" means. I think Baker has the potential to be a 15-18 year starter for this organization and have some tremendous seasons.

But at this point, he needs to be paired with a certain kind of OC, who is going to build everything around his need for timing and RPO action for success. That's not necessarily a problem, but a limitation.

Makes me wonder if it's coaching that hampering him because all he has to do is continue doing what he did last year, unless it's been coached out of him.

Calm down!

You're completely right, but I'm just worried for your health if you're still this fired up on Tuesday! :)

We need to start airing the ball out more. I want to see at least two 40+ yard touchdown passes against the Patriots.

Rookie head coach, 2nd year QB. We could go 8-8 or even 7-9 and this wont be a wasted year. We are young, have talent but the 2 most important people, the coach and qb need experience.

They will learn, i predicted 8-8 or 9-7 for this reason.

We have already won twice as many games in the first 2 years of Hue Jackson. We will end around .500, we are building something, didnt find the cheat code to go from 0-16 to super bowl in 2 years, we will get there

Dont tell the whole story but ya.View attachment 2444

To tell the rest of the story:

Titans 1- Really bad pass way behind OBJ. Baker's fault

Titans 2- Extremely risky out route to Landry, jumped by Logan Ryan. Baker's fault

Titans 3- Skies a 5 yard slant above and behind Landry, who looks like he may get touch on it. Awful pass, Baker's fault

Jets 4- Wobbly pass to a blanketed OBJ. Baker's fault.

Rams 5- Baker immediately is forced out of the pocket and has to heave it on 4th and Goal. Ratley may get a touch on it. Bad pass and Baker's fault, but he had to throw it up and Fowler, I believe, was immediately in Baker's backyard

Ravens 6- Not a great pass, but Landry gave up on the route. If he hadn't, he may've been able to break up the interception. Landry can take the blame here I suppose

49ers 7- Sherman INT. Bad pass, Baker's fault

49ers 8- Callaway's egregious drop. Callaway's fault

Seahawks 9- This one is relatively blameless. I'd chalk this one up as a "shit happens"

Seahawks 10- Baker's worst turnover of the year. Behind and high on Landry, who wasn't open. Resulted in a 10-14 point swing

Seahawks 11- Hilliard's drop. Maybe not the best ball, but it has to be caught. Hillard's fault

Yes, perfect.

Because when your best player is a dynamic running back who has been their only successful, consistent threat on offense, you should ignore him to play out a passing fantasy with a QB who has been objectively terrible.

What I do not understand about Baker is that he does not take the fallback option for the HB on flat. It is as if he only looks to the HB if that is the primary option by play design. Baker did pass to Duke a lot last year. However I do not like that we ran no backfield too much this year. I think Baker is forcing it too much this year and instead of going passes underneath.

Baker out of practice again today. Did not even go out and warm up, as he did yesterday.
