Mods wanted me to start this thread. I think it's supposed to be off topic

*****Mod Edit*****

Just to be clear to everyone, this thread isn't supposed to be "general" Off Topic -- we have a thread for that elsewhere. It's for generally baseball-related stuff. Your own Little League or softball stories, weird stories about other baseball players, etc.. Basically...the kind of stuff you might toss around in the bleachers, and just having fun. Keep in mind that EAYOR stuff doesn't go in here period.

It is NOT Tribe skid row to which someone should be kicked/directed if they are insufficiently analytical in the other Tribe threads..

*****End Mod Edit*****

Anyone else play? Couldn't be happier about moving to SD. Dozens of leagues play every single night. Those who keep their schedule full see each other out at tournaments and form teams for events and leagues etc. Great group of people, great time.

Started out a year ago playing pick up games. Work on stuff and get reps in and move up rankings and into better teams and leagues.

Tonight I subbed for a team with a girl from team usa, and another game with a former sdsu Aztec. Sub for a team with a former team brasil (I think?) player and college player. Some people look like a different species out there on the field. The girls play tournaments out of state every weekend. Forming a super team for an event in a couple weekends, first time I've put one together and I'm pumped

I wish I had the time and the body to play anymore. I will eventually have to have both shoulders and both knees repaired sadly. I have been wanting to eventually get into a league again for either baseball/softball or soccer, but it will be awhile before I can.

I played on a team with a 76 year old. Guy was wildly knowledgeable, coached aaa. Had the highest average on the team, played first. You can do it.

I'm playing hot corner with 50 foot base paths. How can I get practice with hard hit grounders by myself?

Wall ball bro. Come on

Yeah, like Jigo said, the best you're going to do by yourself is chuck it at a wall and play the ricochet. That's still not going to be really like game conditions though, but it'll help you get used to getting down and scooping the ball.

Yeah go down and scoop the balls david

At the opposite end of the "wildly knowledgeable" spectrum, there was a kid on my last Little League team who was dumb as a rock, and belligerent as hell. Also, slow. We're in the playoffs, he's on third, and decides to try to steal home. But being the moron he was, he does it when the pitcher still has the ball on the mound, and there's not even a batter in the box. Pitcher throws home while this guy is still closer to third than home, but he keeps chugging home. Tagged out by a mile, ends the inning. Needless to say, we were all pissed.

Next time he's up, he walks, and decides to make up for his error by stealing second. Amazingly, he made it, though he asks another guy on our team why he's on second too. Yeah, he stole second with the bases loaded. We end up losing by 3 and are out of the playoffs.

I'm sure he's in prison somewhere.

Not the same as 100mph hits coming off a bat

Okay, so get a Jugs gun, aim it downward, and stand about 20 feet in front of it. Should get lots of hard grounders, and you could post the video here.

You probably could go 10-15 pitches before having one of them crush your nuts into oblivion.

I once bowled over a female in a co-ed softball league who was playing catcher and blocking the plate. She bounced off the backstop.

Was that wrong? Should I not have done that?

Did you lower your shoulder?

Amen brother!

Eh, she'd deserved it. She was a rather large, loud-mouthed brute who had sent one of our girls out of the game and to the clinic by running her over at second -- very dirty play. So when I got on third and the brute was playing catcher, and actually taunting me that there was no way I was crossing "her plate", I decided to correct her attitude.

One of the people on my team said that some of the players on the other team actually cheered.
