Funny you say that; I watched that run thinking to myself “there’s no goddamn way Derrick Henry pulls that off.”
Oh, of course not.

Derrick Henry does exactly one thing well--if he gets a large runway, he gets up to speed and basically becomes the Juggernaut and you can't stop him.

Other than that, he's incredibly pedestrian.

I don't think I've ever seen a team let a guy run inefficiently, 15 times getting nothing done on the ground, yet they still go back to that well over and over--and in the fourth quarter, he busts a 70-yard TD and his day looks great.

The player in the NFL that I'd say is closest to Chubb at turning that negative play into a positive would be Joe Mixon. I've definitely seen him get caught multiple times in the backfield and turn it into a positive.

I don't think Mixon would be able to do what Chubb did on that play though.

The best Chubb run today was on a 2nd and 5 I think and he breaks 2 arm tackles in the backfield gets past the LOS and I think it was Tretter who pushes him from behind to get his momentum back and pulls off like an 8yrd run.

Two best runs are at 0:47 and 1:20. Just slicing/pushing through traffic to get yardage that didn't seem to be there at all.

Yeah he's special. Breaking arm tackles isn't anything to fawn over. But its the yard after contact AND the top tier vision AND the ability to make people miss all rolled into a humble hard working guy who has zero ego. Home run pick by the front office.

Screwing all the advanced stats, the guy is unbelievable just by the eye test. He's got speed, power, quick feet, and absolutely incredible vision. Absolute total package as a runner. If he was getting the carries, he'd lead the league in rushing easily.
