We needed a thread. You got a thread.

The Brownies stay in-house and hire Freddie Kitchens as head coach.

They didn't want to do it. They looked for every reason not to do it by conducting an exhaustive search. But in the end, they had to do it. This man was too freaking good not to. He forced Dorsey's hand by knocking it out of the park, and Dorsey had the marbles to make it official.

He's the every man. The son of an Alabama tire maker who has the beautiful gift of motivating those around him.

Here is why he's our coach:

Baker. Kitchens. It made too much sense.

He even has defensive players pumped about it.

Let's go Freddie, lead us to the promised land.

Give it for Football's Kyle Gass, everybody!

Congrats to Freddie.

I think people are being too negative or pessimistic on the DC front.

It's clear the DC is going to get an AST-HC title as well, making it a really attractive gig for guys on the cusp of getting HC gigs.

It will also come with a big pay increase and a HC that will be intimately working with the offense.

DC job offers:

Autonomy over defensive personnel and scheme decisions
Upgraded title
More money
Lots of young talent
Declining division

We will get a lot of people back channeling in to this gig IMO, guys we would not expect to get interest from.

I agree completely. I'd have to believe this is a DC job that people would want.

The Browns are so hot right now.

DC is where having a guy like Dorsey with all his contacts hopefully will make a difference in terms of attracting candidates. It doesn't have to be someone with whom Freddie personally has worked before as long as Freddie likes and wants to work with him.

Every baker needs a Kitchen. Sorry, had to use the most overused joke on the internets today.

This times 100, probably one of the main questions in the interview. Of course they always ask about staff, this is where Freddie lacks, but Freddie will retain most of the offensive staff.

Sometimes I get a job because of my working relationships, but I have gotten jobs in the past based purely on reputation and no actual experience with management. Football is no different, just a much, much smaller talent pool.

Not sure if I like the title of the thread, it implies someone is pounding Kitchens in the ass.

Either that or I might have a problem...or both.

Freddie is a well liked coach in the locker room by players according to Zastidil. Dave said that was his favorite assistant coach of all time and he didn’t even player under him.

I’m sure he has connections on the defensive side of the ball.

I think you may have a problem...

Alright, I'll change it, Lee. Just for you. *awkward wink*
