The future of baseball in Oakland

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Never been to Portland or Vegas, so I have no idea about which would be a better overall market.

But while Portland is very concerned about public expenditures and things like environmental factors, the people in Vegas don't give a rats butt about spending money and cacti in the desert.

And the Latinos in Nevada...a now important consideration...make up 30% of Nevadas population.

As a guy who goes to Oakland As games, Vegas has been the plan for a long, long time. The ownership doesn't meet with the public or city government anymore. The negotiations with Oakland were a sham. As soon as the Knights were viable, the Oakland teams were one foot out the door.

As they should be

As a fairly frequent attendee of A's games, you realize they have a wonderful base of committed fans. But they will never gain the traction they need in that city, in that stadium. If they were going to, they would have already. To many good teams over to many years to not have

Serious question: Are the expansion fees a standard amount or can MLB get more money with Vegas as an expansion spot??

If location of expansion doesn't matter I could see Vegas (being the current AAA spot of the Athletics) having the inside track..
If the value of location could increase the expansion fee charged, MLB might push the Athletics towards other western spots so everyone gets more $$$ once expansion happens.

Looks like one undersupported MLB team down, two left to go to find new homes.

Rays and Marlins I am guessing? Marlins won't be able to move for awhile since they just got a new stadium... if the Rays don't get a new one, I know they are going to swim to someplace different even if it's in Canada...

If Portland fields a Major League team with any name other than "Beavers", it will be to my great dismay.
Well, they’ve also been the Portland Ducks and the Portland Mavericks, so there is that.

Heck, they could “steal” the old Seattle moniker, and be the Portland Pilots!

That was the name of the AAA club.. Personally I like the "Homers" (think more Simpsons than baseball) but it will never happen I think.
