I think Stefanski called a hell of a game for the offense. He got more out of Brissett than anyone expected possible. For that I think he deserves credit.

But here's the rub... what I just praised would be all well and good if I was talking about an offensive coordinator. A Head Coach's job entails a LOT more than just calling a good game for the offense. What we saw yesterday was a team lacking in defensive strategy, and in overall game management.

We need a HEAD COACH. Not a play caller. (We do need a play caller too, but not at the expense of not having a HC who is on top of everything the way the job demands).

Only when compared to the high expectations. Stefanski is still the best head coach the Browns have had in the last 2-3 decades.

Yeah that’s not saying much

I mean, Stefanski was not the reason we lost this week. He called an incredible offensive game that saw us marching down the field almost at will and had Brissett looking like a top ten QB in the NFL.

We lost because of our defense.

I'm certainly not going to blame Chubb for scoring that touchdown and making it a two score game with a minute and a half left. I'm also not going to blame York for missing one extra point. No kicker is perfect, and that's his first miss of the season. He's going to miss a couple this year and we need to accept that. Every kicker does. The best ones just do it much less, and hopefully that's who York ends up being. And I'm also not going to blame Brissett for that pick. It was an awful pass, but he was tasked with trying to get us into field goal range with twelve seconds left. He shouldn't have been in that position to begin with.

Honest question here:

How many current NFL head coaches would you trade Kevin Stefanski for?

Belichick
Tomlin
Reid
Harbaugh
McDermitt
Shannahan
LaFluer
McVay
Vrabel???

I'm not sure I choose Belichick anymore. Dude has been kind of exposed with terrible roster building since Brady left.

I also wouldn't choose Vrabel over Stefanski, but I get it I suppose.

Add
Pete Carroll
Zac Taylor
Ron Rivera
Doug Peterson
Brandon Staley
Literally 0 of these people, and definitely not Zac fucking Taylor, Pete Carroll or Ron Rivera.

So you’d say Kevin is a top 5/6 guy in the league?

Anyone who says they’d take Taylor over Stefanski is a fucking fool. He’s the guy that’s going to ruin Joe Burrow if they let him. Team spent half their cap space on the O-line and Burrow is still getting murdered because Taylor is calling long-developing plays and not utilizing play action.

So you’d say Kevin is a top 5/6 guy in the league?

I think it's very possible.

Guy has been dealt a tough hand and performed pretty damn well IMO. And he's only in his 3rd year of being the head guy. I'd be hard pressed to swap him with the majority of the field.

Doesn't mean he's without his faults though. I think he needs to realize that there's a glaring issue on the defensive side that will either require a new DC or more of his involvement to iron out...problem is, he's got his hands full wringing wine out of a cum rag on offense. He's doing a pretty damn good job at it so far, so I really don't want him to sacrifice what he's doing there.

So you’d say Kevin is a top 5/6 guy in the league?
Top 10, for sure. Maybe top 5.

I think people underestimate that he gets most of his gameday decisions correct and has designed a top 10 offenses with literal nothings at QB. He, along with Stump and Callahan, having created one of the most dominating units in the NFL with their rush offense. There are very, very few HC's I'd take over Stefanski.
