I think Zac Taylor is below average... but I'll also say it's interesting how Burrow gets ZERO blame for how many sacks he takes. Dude pitches a tent in the pocket so often but the o-line/coaching takes all the blame. National media too busy slurping on "Cool Joe" I guess.
I think this video is mandatory viewing before anyone discusses Burrow's sack numbers. Raw numbers don't provide context.

You're the one who used that logic, not me.

Defend your Zac Taylor opinion. Because, quite frankly, he looks to be a terrible coach who had a decent team get hot last year.
We should go sign Trent Dilfer. He's a Super Bowl winning QB! Deshaun Watson's never even been to a Super Bowl, idiot!

A huge national media talking point with Taylor is how his teams are horribly predictable. They run when Burrow is under center and throw when in shotgun. It's hilariously predictable.

For the 2022 season

Bungals: under center (36 rush att ----48 total plays = 75%)

Browns: under center (53 rush att ----72 total plays = 74%)

I mean, Stefanski was not the reason we lost this week. He called an incredible offensive game that saw us marching down the field almost at will and had Brissett looking like a top ten QB in the NFL.

We lost because of our defense.

I am a big Stefanski fan, but I don't like this rationale. If the defense fails, Stefanski fails. If the special teams fails, Stefanski fails.

Ultimately he's responsible for everything - offense, defense and special teams. He's the one who hired all these guys in the first place, so the buck stops with him.

Well sure, and I fully expect Stefanski to bite the bullet and fire Joe Woods at the end of the year if this shit continues. If it continues and he doesn’t address it, that’s on him. But given how good the defense was toward the end of last year, there wasn’t really a realistic chance of Woods getting fired.

I don't agree with this.

I think it's up to Stefanski and Berry to figure out what DC and coaching staff can best perform on defense. However, I don't believe that Stefanski has much involvement with the details of the defense. Woods should have full control of the ship.

If the problem is Joe Woods, and the solution is to replace Joe Woods, and you see Stefanski and the front office moving that way, there shouldn't be any additional shit flung Stefanski's way.

It's the same way I wouldn't blame a "CEO-style" head coach for offensive playcalling. What Greg Roman does in Baltimore is on him. It doesn't reflect on Harbaugh.

Zac Taylor is definitely getting fired as soon as Cincy is eliminated from the playoffs.
He very well may get the Herm Edwards treatment.

The Bengals have thrown on 107 of their 116 shotgun snaps this year.

The Browns, on Sunday, ran 30 snaps out of shotgun. They ran the ball 12 times, and threw it 18.

The Bengals offense in shotgun: Passing the ball 101% of the time, 100% of the time- every time.

I feel like it's a bit of a misconception that the Bengals spent a fortune on their offensive line

3 new starters from free agency:

RG Cappa 4 yrs $35m. $11m gtd
RT Collins 3 yrs $21m. $5m gtd
C Karras 3 yrs $18m. $5m gtd

That's less guaranteed money than the Browns gave John Johnson

The Bengals percentage of their cap dedicated to O-Line middle of the pack

The Bengals absolutely did upgrade their line in the offseason. But I think it went from horrible to average

But it looks every bit as bad as last year, which implies coaching is an issue here. The line should not look that bad.

Interesting according to profootball ref:

22' Bungals out of shotgun formation: 78 pass att to 113 total plays = 69%

22' Browns out of shotgun formation: 43 pass att to 67 total plays = 64%
