I don't know, in a way it will be refreshing and different to see what Stefanski can do with a conventional old school NFL style QB. Not mobile, can make all the reads and throws, throw out the RPO and moving pockets. Just conventional run and pass plays standing tall in the pocket, and whatever misdirection or disguises you can get out of that base package. It will be interesting because even Brissett couldn't throw downfield as well as Flacco. Dial it up and see if anyone answers the phone.

I'm probably going a little too deep into semantics here, but teams can still run (and should run) RPO's with a non mobile QB for what it's worth.

All a run/pass option actually is a called running play with at least one or multiple pass routes also happening that the QB can quickly turn into a throw before the OL is ineligibly downfield on their run blocks. There's no real QB mobility element to it.

Where QB mobility comes into play is when there's a zone read element where the QB is reading a specific defender and either completing a handoff or pull the ball out of the running back's gut based on that keyed defender.

Dreading the scripted, predictable crap Stefanski is bound2 throw out there today.

Stefanski is easily a top 10 coach in the league. Browns are lucky to have this guy and the fans should honestly appreciate him given what we’ve had to watch since Belichick, who was masterful. Especially offensively.

“I’m schizophrenic and so am I.”

Point taken, I probably was thinking more that Flacco eliminates designed QB runs and run/read options that Watson and DTR can execute. At the same time when I think back about Flacco I still don't recollect him doing any type of option other than pre-snap audibles.

So does Flacco have an extensive history of running RPOs as far as you know?

If not my point stands.

RPO's weren't really a huge thing when Flacco was consistently starting, so no.

The RPO didn't really become a staple in NFL offenses until like 2018 when Flacco had already basically graduated to from full time starter to the veteran bridge QB phase of his career.

We can nitpick - we're good for that.

But even so, what more could we ask for at this point? Our redzone TD% is awful and a large part of that is because we don't have Chubb.

I've refrained from declaring anything about Ford but I leaning towards he's mostly a JAG (with some big play potential). Kareem isn't reliable for anything more than 3ish yards so those 1st and goal situations on the 9 yard line aren't ideal.

WRs are ass.

TE (Njoku) rearing back up with unreliable hands.

Tackles are inconsistent and not good run blockers. 4th string QB. I mean... maybe I can find a few plays I question in a game but that'll always be the case with ANY play-caller. Even the Shanahans and McDaniels's are like that. Stefanski is having a good year as a HC and as a play-caller.

Browns have a good chance to end up at 11-6, and will probably be a favorite in every game going forward:

Bears
@Texans
Jets
@Bengals

Heck, they can win out and get to 12-5.

If either of those things happen, then Stefanski has to be COY based on the QB carousel, right?
