The Rise of Skywalker spoilers thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The prequels were better than 7+8, imo

People really underestimate how bat TPM and ATOC were. Go rewatch that garbage and tell me how TLJ was "so bad".

I do think ROTS is really quite a good movie. I will take it to my grave that its maybe the 2nd or 3rd best film in the franchise.

TPM and AOTC were at least full of new ideas and had some interesting world-building.

TLJ was just awful on every level.

I agree that ROTS was a good movie. But I'm with @King Stannis in terms of TPM and AOTC v. TFA and TLJ. The former at least attempted to add some depth to world, and tell a decent story. The acting was generally poor, but I can at least admire the attempt, and the world.

Quite honestly, TFA and particularly TLJ are just tough to watch. I tried watching both of them the second time on TV, and couldn't get more than 5 minutes into either. I actually prefer standard SyFy Channel trash to those movies

I still haven't seen SOLO. There aren't any good streams on Kodi for it, so I'm waiting. I don't really care if I don't see it at all, really.

My buddy just read the newer Thrawn book by Timothy Zahn. Sort of like a prequel and explains his rise to power. I may have to pick it up even though it is nowhere near cannon anymore.

No, it's canon

Interesting, my friend was wrong.

A little odd the Thrawn Trilogy is thrown out but now this new stuff is cannon. Disney had to fck shit up.

Reinventing the wheel often result in unsatisfactory outcomes.

Agree that I'd love for some of the stories to stay. But the old EU was pretty convoluted, they had to throw out everything.

edit - Should mention I really enjoyed the new Thrawn book

Lol I ended up enjoying Solo quit a bit: it's a lot better then Last Jedi and Force Awakens IMO

I was really confused by the Darth Maul cameo thought: timeline didn't make sense to me

Maul survived Episode 1, notice the robot legs. Clone Wars and Rebels bridge the gap.

I think the issue is that they expect people to have watched those shows, which many have not.

Maul got cut the fuck in half in Episode I. There's really no realistic way he should have survived, even with the Force. Obi-Wan got cut in half and his weak ass disappeared.
