I'm waiting for Netflix. I don't even like any of the hero characters -- I wish the Empire or whatever the fuck they're calling it would win. It's what that shitty J.J. Abrams universe deserves.

I think it would be a brave choice to have Palpatine win, and rule for a few hundred years that drives the Jedi underground for like a millennia and following the Rule of Two.

Why has every Star Wars movie not a part of the original trilogy sucked?

The Prequels were fine as building blocks for the mythos.

Fills in the gaps in a way people thought they might while adding some new cool characters and locations despite the main arc being poorly done. The prequels are very much valued for canonizing a lot of conjectural things we all argued about as kids. Things we have taken for granted for decades, like Palpatine's rise, the Jedi Order, what the Clone Wars were, all that is valuable despite the bad direction and the cringe-worthy Padme/Anakin thing, or Jar Jar.

In turn the Prequels led to the great Clone Wars series and Rebels. Lots of good stuff there.

One can't say even that about anything in these new sequels (Episodes VII-IX). None of the new characters are cool, none of the locations are remotely original and it doesn't build a coherent picture of how things should have been after Jedi.

They are the first sequels to actually ruin the prior films.
