The Rise of Skywalker spoilers thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Out of curiosity, do folks keep up with the other forms of Star Wars media?

I listened to the new audio book: Dooku: Jedi Lost, and it was great.

Dooku has always been one of my favorite characters and the insights on his and Yoda's relationship were great.

That and the fact that Yoda only took him on as padawan, in defiance of Jedi Order rules (Council Members are not supposed to have a padawan), because Dooku was the most powerful force user to come into the Jedi Order for several generations. He first learned, and used, Force Lighting as a padawan. An immense feat as Lightning is a skill 99% of Jedi Masters never master.

Yoda felt that only he could possibly hope to train him and keep him from falling to the dark side due to his immense power and immense arrogance.

In hindsight, Yoda failed a lot before he finally got it right with these Force savants.

I've read the Thrawn Trilogy and the Darth Bane books, all of which I would recommend. I've also heard great things about the Dooku book so I need to read it soon.

I hope the Mandolorian show is a precursor to more Star Wars Mando stuff. A trilogy about the Mandolorian wars would be sick as hell. Or if they managed to rise up again.

I used to be way into the books. The Thrawn Trilogy, Bane Trilogy and the NJO were my favorites.

I read the Aftermath series because it was supposed to tie into the new movies. It really didn't. I read the 1st new Thrawn and liked it, but haven't gotten around to 2 or 3. I've read little else, although "Catalyst" (a prequel to Rogue One) was pretty good.

I thought Rebels was solid, but not as much as most people.

Mandalorian so far is easily my favorite non-movie of the Disney stuff. In fact, it's my favorite of anything, save Rogue One.

First reviews out for Rise of Skywalker

A common theme: a lot of exposition and setting up the plot and cramming a lot of stuff into the first half of the movie. Sounds like JJ basically undid alot of Last Jedi. To set up the finale.

Makes me wish JJ had just done all 3. Sigh. Lucasfilm just didn't have a plan.

I am going Saturday. Will have full thoughts then.

If one of those things undone is somehow making Akbar not dead I’m all for it.

Uh...holy fuck, the spoilers are out there, and this sounds WILDLY disappointing

Woof.

Gonna try my hardest to convince my family to see Uncut Gems instead.

Sounds terrible. I don't even really want to see it.

I can't even understand how all those minds, and all that money, can produce such utter shit.

12 year-old me could have written a better trilogy.

ROTJ is just hallowed out. It is the WWI of films.

Death, sacrifice, all for nothing.

Don't let them see this shit

This is for the good of public health

Yeah, like did anyone actually expect this to be amazing? There's been one good Star Wars movie in like thirty years and it was a fucking spin-off.
Wait a minute... the Shawshank Redemption was a Star Wars spin-off?!?! NO FUCKING WAY!!!

Holy shit, those spoilers are real?
