They lost...
what does it mean for the olympics?
Is it wrong that I kind of hope Cedi doesn't have to play in the Olympics?/ I mean at least for next year at least. Back to back years of playing several competitive games where he gets 30+ minutes each time in the off-season does not seem ideal. There's also the fact that playing international ball seems to throw off his outside shot for a bit.

Also, why is Cedi still playing in these games and getting tons of minutes when other NBA players like Ersan and Korknaz get to sit games out? Cedi needs to learn how to say no, and or the Cavs need to tell Turkey to lay off overusing Cedi.

Him falling off around his 60 games played mark belies this point. Looked like he hit the rookie wall last year as a sophomore playing big minutes

So apparently Turkey has qualified for the 2020 Olympics qualification tournament. So if Cedi plays for Turkey next year he is at least guaranteed to play in that tourney and if they win that he has to play in the Olympics.

Hopefully, Cedi is smart enough to not push himself too hard in his free-agent year ( if he doesn't reach an extension agreement with the Cavs beforehand). It's not like Turkey has a chance of medaling anyway, the US , Australia, Spain, Serbia, and probably France among others are all better.
I don't know why the Cav's didn't give Cedi some restrictions on how many minutes he can play for Turkey. Doesn't seem smart.

I have mixed feelings about it. Maybe he isn't getting better playing against international competition, but he is one of the leaders of that team, and that part is good for him as a young player.

Wear and tear is real tho

True that part is good, and I think to a certain extent playing against international competition in real games is probably better at getting him ready for the season than playing in pick up / un-official games. I just think there needs to be a limit on how much he plays in these scenarios. Especially when the other NBA players on his team aren't playing.
At the very least he was able to finish the tourney with a couple of strong games.
