It's already been mentioned by Griffin that he will stay overseas for two years.
I know. Forgot to mention that this is a counter point if he ever considers ending the contract.

Apparently, he's said he plans to stick with the Turkish team until 2017. But you're right in that he might exit that contract early. Seems unlikely given that the Cavs wouldn't be able to pay much to help him do so.

What I meant by the earlier post, though, is that as far as I know a player under contract to a team from an overseas league cannot participate in NBA summer league. He would have to get out that foreign contract first, rather than just show up in Vegas.
Actually many players are allowed to go to summer league even though still under contract. Having an NBA exit clause is probably a must.

Hard to argue with the pick. High ceiling, low risk, doesn't limit us financially this year.

You could quibble if we'd traded out of the pick if someone like Anderson or RHJ was still on the board, but once the 3's were gone, the trade down was the smart move.

Turkish League. Players who have played in the Turkish League: Hedo, Ersan Ilyasova, Mehmet Okur, Sasha Vujacic, Omer Asik, Enes Kanter, Bojan Bogdanovic, Semih Erden (Yay!), Bogdan Bogdanovic, Zaza, Milan Macvan, Furkan Aldemir, and a bunch of ex-NBA Americans like Allen Iverson, Adam Morrison, etc....fairly decent level of competition. How this guy develops from now til he is 22 (when his contract runs out in Turkey) will be interesting to watch.
All highlights in the video are from EuroLeague - the top competition against top european players.

Doesn't seem like he'll be in a Cavs uniform any time soon, if ever.

Eh, that's not so bad.

The likelihood of getting a rookie at 24 or below who would be able to make a more meaningful contribution than some vet in the next year or two was pretty damn low anyway. And winning in the next year or two has to be the priority. If trading him helps us bring in someone good, great.

And if not, better to let him spend that developmental time overseas. He's talented, young, and a hard-worker. He may turn into something pretty good, and if so, we got him at a bargain precisely because other teams knew he wouldn't come over for two years.

He doesn't look like a Milos Macvan "wtf" level talent.

Guys keep your expectations tempered. This was for the most part a way to save money. There's no guarantee Osman comes over in 2 years, if ever. He plays in the Turkish League, which is the richest league in Europe. Supposedly he's going to be offered a ton of money to stay there - way more than he could get playing in the NBA. It'll come down to what he values more: money or the opportunity to play in the best basketball league in the world surrounded by the best players in the world.

Jalen's system to compairing players:
White dude - other, older White dude.
Turkish dude - other, older Turkish dude.
Tall guard - other, older tall guard.
Bald Black dude - other, older bald Black dude.

etc.

Is it wrong I immediately assumed that Cedi is a chain smoker?

I like his court awareness. Quite impressive for a 20 year old. It translates to his passing game, finding holes in the opposing defense, playing the lanes, rebounding. I like his motor and speed too.

I don't like his shooting percentages. Below 70% from the line is a red flag to me. He can slash, but he is not strong enough to be effective around the rim in the NBA. I guess he could add muscle in the next couple of years.

His hair should translate well at the NBA level.

Overall, I'd have gone a different direction.
