The Mandalorian

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
"Mature" Star Wars has always been a dream of the generation that were kids when the original trilogy came out, and now it's here.
Raising my hand here. Andor is literally everything I've wanted in a mature show about the Rebellion. Rogue One was the first taste, Andor's the addiction. The scripts, the acting, the production design, the overall tone are perfect.

Not using the Volume for filming the show--or using it very sparingly, which I think is the case--has made a huge difference, too.

I'm only five episodes into Andor but it's fantastic.

It doesn't shy away from the real political landscape of the Star Wars universe. The fascism of the empire, the way the rebels would be considered terrorists, the plight of the average citizen whose life sucks because of the power games that the ruling class plays... definitely had to stop the credits and look at who was behind the show.

I have a feeling it's going to go down with Clone Wars as one of the best star wars series.

It feels like a real living, breathing world with all the societal elements thought out and in place. Lots of different stops along the good/bad moral spectrum for all the different characters and factions.

You have so much good stuff ahead. It gets better and better. Re: the bolded line, I also appreciate that the rebels know what they're doing is going to be considered terrorism...that in fact it is, at least to some extent. There's a monologue further on in the show that sounds like it was ripped from the journal of every self-aware leftist revolutionary in history. You'll know it when you come to it.

Guessing it's from the dead kid's manifesto?

Just finished episode 6. Opening to episode 7 is rolling.

The dichotomy of Skeen and Andor was fantastic.

I don't wanna give too much away, but no, it's not. I'll add that The Monologue is in Ep. 10, which is the most recent one.

But Nemik's journal and his whole character is still a perfect example of what we're talking about. I felt like I was listening to one of my radical friends when he talked.

I think the brass at Disney/abc probably agree with everyone here on Andor. It seems like they are trying to get the word out so they can keep making it. They will be putting the first two episodes on ABC next week then on FX, Freeform, and Hulu. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing gets put on Hulu at some point. It's really made for a more mature audience than what Disney+ aims for and it might be able to pick up viewers from Hulu's more mature audience.

Holy crap this scene from the most recent episode, #11:

The big rumor making the rounds is that Luthen Rael is actually Rael Aveross, a former Jedi, and a noted one as he was Count Dooku's first padawan, Qui-Gon Jinn's predecessor.

It would make sense given the little hints dropped here and there on the show, the kyber crystal, the staff hilt, the laser weapon in his ship's wings, and the recent focus on Dooku in the past couple years with Tales of the Jedi and the recent novels 'Jedi Lost,' and 'Master & Apprentice,' in which Rael Aveross makes appearances for the first time.

It would also explain Rael's political acumen, CIS connections, financial resources and access to military grade weapons as Rael Aveross left the Order well before Order 66 and took up governing. He maintained his relationship with Dooku until the end and who knows, maybe the Count provided for Aveross, in finances and in connections, as some sort of contingency in the event of his premature death.

Series ended well.

Don't miss the end-credit scene from the final episode. I think that's the only one that's been there this series. If not, I need to look back.

Binged it last week while stuck at home with Covid. Agree that they stuck the landing and as a few others mentioned it's in the my top5 Star Wars live action properties along the the Original Trilogy, Rogue1, and one of the Sequel trilogy installments(need to rewatch that trilogy to remember which one I liked best(2nd or 3rd) but I liked 7-9 more than most it seems(7 was the weakest of the three imo)

For reference I do like Mandolorian but Andor was just objectively better for me as a show.

Boba was a heaping disappointment(which ok whatever) and Kenobi barely above that(ugh, inexcusable)

Season 3 started yesterday.

There was a scene that was cool to look at for me but drove those who watched Rebels to orgasm.

I forgot how short these episodes are.
