The Mandalorian

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I enjoyed the ending of S2, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't secretly hoping for
a Sith to arrive and forcefully take Grogu and the next arc of the show would be trying to rescue him.

Well, I'm frankly glad that they didn't go with that storyline. Ventress going down with some convoluted love story would have been pretty lame for her character arc.

Yeah, it seems more like the old EU.

The Jedi Council approving assassination attempts?

C'mon now.

Bad Batch was excellent. Just blows my mind they gave the sequels to people who really didn't give two shits about SW. Imaging if Filoni was given the wheels like he should have been

I'll probably get some heat for this, but the movies are the worst part of Star Wars.

Rogue One and Empire were good, but the rest, to me, were pretty bad movies. When the nostalgic euphoria of "OMG, another Star Wars event!" wears off, then the movies are just so meh (or worse). I don't think I've re-watched Episodes 7-9 yet. I don't know if that urge will ever be there.

4 and 5 I feel are exempt from this, but everything else? Agreed.

Even the parts of the prequels that I liked were done so much better, and given the context they deserved, by Filoni.

It's crazy, because I remember growing up in the 90's, in a period where there hadn't been a single Star Wars anything new on screens for over a decade... and Star Wars was still the number one IP out there. Like, you slap Star Wars on anything and it was almost too cool to comprehend. Then the prequels were coming out and I thought it was a dream come true.

It's crazy how far the IP has fallen since then. Luckily, Marvel has taken up the mantle and done more than anyone could have imagined.

If they ever decide to do another trilogy, they better get the fuck out of Filoni and Favreau's way.

I won't be surprised if they abandon the current characters, and pick a point in time in the Star Wars universe to start building their own MCU-style wide, arching plotline.

It doesn't necessarily have to be on an epic "galaxy dependent on outcome" scale either. I'd happily pay to see a series focused on a Maul crime syndicate as it was teased in Solo.

The Mandalorian's success has proven that the Star Wars universe sells itself. You can tell smaller scale stories while still creating a thrilling viewing experience without having retread plots full of fan service.

Star Wars is fucking cool, Disney. No need to overthink this one.

To be fair, The Mandalorian has a ton of fan service.

I agree but it feels much more subtle and less pandering than the new trilogy. I don't think fan service is a bad thing when it doesn't directly influence everything else. Aside from S2 finale reveal,
I would be surprised if Luke is featured heavily in S3

I think Mandalorian did an excellent job establishing its own identity that feels very Star Wars but also leaves you guessing what will come next.

Hard disagree with the original trilogy (all the other movies a hard agree).
ROTJ is one of the most underated movies out there IMO as everyone hates the Ewoks, the Luke portion are really good and the end seems so engrained but that was really an amazing way to become a true Jedi. You are given all this power and the way to righteousness is to not use it.

So, Bad Batch isn't messing around.

What's a little execution of unarmed prisoners, stormtroopers with a conscience and women and children between friends?

What are people's thoughts on The Bad Batch?
