The Mandalorian

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Finished episode 6, some touching moments I thought, but not enough to save the series for me. I watched it and was moderately entertained, but not exactly what I was expecting or hoping for. I guess the Star Wars fan in me was just really hoping to be blown away because Obiwan and Anakin are two of my favorite characters. I just wish it was them and a very small part for any other character.

I dunno, I guess season 2 is coming. The ending of 6 gave me some hope. If Reva ends up taking more screen time from Vader and Obiwan next season I'll be annoyed again. I would rather her just have her own show at this point and not take away Vader and Obiwan.

Kenobi season 1 was pretty damn mediocre. The entire show is basically just scenes with Vader and then worthless filler around it.

It's fine, I'll still watch it because the scenes with Vader are so cool. But these other shows just haven't managed to put together a compelling story the way Mandalorian has.
Agreed that Mandalorian is superior, but it doesn’t suffer from having to exist in a pretty tightly defined story line. We know the before and after of so many of the characters that are central to Obi-Wan. Mandalorian has much more latitude with its stories.

Agreed, but I feel if you're going to make these shows you have to find a way to create a compelling story around them to keep them going.

Perhaps these are just better fit as movies. Rogue One being the perfect example.

I am really looking forward to Ahsoka.

That said, franchise fatigue is very real. I miss the anticipation.

I miss hunting for Episode II spoilers back in the day because we had to wait for years for content.

The bad thing about Disney is the mandate to create content. Lots of it to add value to Disney+.

MCU is beginning to suffer from this as well.

Jedi survivor is a video game. Not sure about everything else on that list. Survivor is a sequel to fallen order which I got to say I enjoyed much, much more story wise than Kenobi. I stopped watching after three episodes it was so bad.

Tales of the Jedi was really good.

The Ashoka storyline was really good.

The Dooku episodes were fantastic. I really wish we could get a Dooku and Qui-Gon series. They were a great pair.

The duel with Yaddle as so sad. We only see her for like seven minutes, but in that time they build such a likable character. If only she had spoken up more before Qui-Gon's death. She was clearly a compassionate and open-minded person unlike that robot Mace Windu. I never liked Mace much and I have grown to dislike his closed-minded institutional lap dog personality even more. Sad duel. It simply gutted Dooku to have to kill her. Fuck Sidious. Dude is an asshole. She should have run... one wonders what could have been had Dooku accepted her offer. Sidious at that point was actually at Dooku's level of power. Yaddle and Dooku together could have taken him. I hope to see her again in something. Other than that, the did a good job of demonstrating that as a Jedi Dooku was already the duelist par excellance and on another level in Force battles. Poor Yaddle.

Andor is pretty awesome. This past episode was great. I hate waiting a week in between.

It's been so good. I think the first couple episodes with all the backstory was unnecessary and might have lost them viewers. They really should have dived into the storyline from the beginning.

Hearing the same on Andor. Gonna binge it shortly.

Andor has probably been the best star wars content put out since the original trilogy. The Mandalorian was also quite good, but is a bit more of a "feel good" binge where you have a pretty good idea who has to survive and nothing truly bad is going to happen, where Andor is a serious show where characters make logical decisions and everyone is at risk, outside of a select few. The writing on Andor has been just head and shoulders above other Star Wars content. I don't think there has been a single moment where something happened "just because it would be cool", and I feel like that has happened commonly in the other content on Disney+, even if it led to inconsistencies or nonsense.

Andor blows everything out of the water Disney has done with the Star Wars IP outside of a few Mandalorian episodes. The last episode's writing and the few before leading up to the prison climax.... masterful monologues delivered with purpose - I hadn't felt that sort of emotion since "You were the chosen one". This is how you make Star Wars content catered to a mature audience.

I will admit it took me a few attempts to get into this show. Obi Wan left a bad taste in my mouth and apparently has with others because I hear this isn't getting the viewers Obi Wan had initially but I think that changes with the word-of-mouth coming out now.

Binge this show now if you haven't yet. I'd say it really finds its footing after episode 3 and only gets better and more confident in the story it is telling. This isn't just best Star Wars show acclaim. Andor might be my favorite show of the year assuming they deliver on the last two episodes.

Could not agree with all this more. "Mature" Star Wars has always been a dream of the generation that were kids when the original trilogy came out, and now it's here. If Disney continues to mix in this type of content, the viewers will come back.

And to your point that it might be your favorite show if the year, ditto. This is a show that is just good, regardless of being in the SW universe. Those first three episodes were slow and very introductory and directionless, but they set everything up now on a strong foundation. I think Disney knew it as well, which is why they released all 3 together.
