I was not sure where to post this, but I think it kind of has to do with mental health. I'm trying hard to get the rest of my life in order since I have been better mentally. I have been so fucked up health wise my whole life that I never really had a real job. I repaired computers for many years, but that has slowed down a lot. I have been looking for jobs I can work from home but they all seem like a scam. I guess maybe I need more qualifications to find something that would offer a health insurance plan that I could use to get the care I need. Just feeling stuck, and I want out of this welfare hole in the worst way.....

Here are at home customer service jobs. Don't pay great but better than what you get now I think.

Great perspective on the problems with social media.
I first started using social media and dating apps within the last 2 years.
I was very naive thinking it would be a good way to meet and connect with new people.
Its really not. What i've learned in my own experience is that its very unhealthy and keeps people isolated. Its a space that's filled with negativity.

The suicide rates for teenagers has skyrocketed. Last year 70% of all suicides were white males. Anxiety has reached all time highs. Ive met and gotten to know beautiful girls on these platforms and they turned out to have deeper issues than you would imagine. Especially girls on instagram, they're just not healthy.

Texting and smartphones in general have crippled genuine communication and human interaction.
Best thing you can do is get out into the real world and face the things that make you uncomfortable.

You might want to consider a temp agency, but one that works with professionals. Costs you nothing. Show up professionally dressed. Fill out an application. They will interview you to get an idea of what type of jobs to match you with. Sell yourself. They may do a basic skills assessment. If you have a background in computers, that will certainly work to your advantage. Essentially, they do the job search for you. Also, many of these jobs are not advertised. The companies just make a direct call to the temp agency. Really, it's a great place to start if feeling in a rut and needing to find a job.

Many of the jobs are temp-to-hire, but not all. Some will only be for 6 months or a year. It will get you off of the sofa. Likewise, it will buy you time to look for work also. Edit add: Mine offered health, well an affordable plan that didn't suck.

I wen't that route while in graduate school. Went to Spherion, a temp agency. They sent me on a few interviews. Landed a temp job on the third. If I had desired to stay, the company I temped with would have offered to hire me as a permanent employee.

Do you have access to any higher education opportunities? Tech Schools, CCs?

Re-training may take a couple years if you are looking at coding, which I recommend in this economy, but shit, once you have that skill-set there is no shortage of jobs.

My Google Voice number once belonged to a guy named Krishna. He is evidently a coding engineer of some sort. For the first four months (I wonder if Krishna was on a H1B and it expired) I had the number I would get calls every few days from headhunters wanting him to interview with such and such company with jobs all over the country.

According to many youtube videos you only need 1,000 hours to get hired as a front end web developer. 10 hrs a day for 3 months = 60k a year job. worth it .

For best results also be sure to legally change your name to Krishna @cavman

As others have suggested already, have you thought of learning computer programming? I worked remotely as a programmer for years, it's actually a really great gig since you make your own hours and you are your own boss.

I messed around back in the day with it. Some php and c#. Now that I'm good mentally I think I'll begin to revisit all that. It is super rewarding when you write your own code and it works(kind of).

S22e9 of South Park was good.

1 addressed too much phone usage and negative consequences

2. Lampooning this idea that having anxiety (or other partciluarly common "mental health issues" that really everyone has) is special and unique. It's glorified and people are put on a pedastal and really everyone gets anxiety
