The Opening Night Optimism Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
By tanking hard do you mean throwing games ? Just the let season play out. It will be what it will be. We will get assets for hill Korver maybe tt or jr at some point. Not going to worry about the Atlanta pick. If we play well enough to not get I think that would be great. If we suck that bad that we are in the lottery then you have the pick.
Tanking hard by playing line ups that are not optimal to winning, playing 10 day g-leaguers etc.

After we purge the roster of most of the junk next year, I'd love it if we extended a reasonable offer to Delly to operate as Sexton's backup. The Cleveland love was mutual and I don't see too much of a demand for him.

That'd be a really high-character group of guys to root for.

THIS TEAM IS SO FUCKED! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Cannot be too optimistic with the kind of defense we're seeing tonight. Same old crap from last season, but now there isn't LeBron's offense to help make up some of the difference. Of course we still have the same coach, who never adjusts anything...

It's still LeBronto on the road, meaning that without LeBron we're much less than 50/50 odds against them.

We actually did much better here than our one regular-season road game against them last year, which was at the height of ITpocalypse, and this is probably a slightly better Toronto team than last year.

I thought a team that replaced LeBron with Cedi and young bull looked great. Defense sucked, but that could be an area of growth . Lots of young mistakes.

Toronto replaced cooler DeRozan with Kawai who looked like a damn boss tonight. Really surprised they got it to within 7 down the stretch .

They will have to learn to win games, but I thought that was pretty good against what I think will be the best team in the East.

I don't think it is that bad either. A lot of players will have better days. Some easy fixable problems as well and some obvious things not working well that a lot of posters pointed out in this forum. I don't think Lue will try anything new but still I would like to see how well we do against mediocre teams.

There is no justification for anyone to overreact to this loss as if it indicates the team is bad. If anything you can take with a grain of salt the star treatment calls both Lowry and Kawhi got absolutely impacted the 2nd half. Still don't think Cavs win this one/ too many turnovers and by committee defense in the paint was overall pretty ineffective leaving open shooters who made the shots. Once Nance gets back the paint defense will be a little better for sure.
I think a lot of the issues overall are just adjusting to the speed for Sexton, having confidence in their shot for Dekker, and cutting JC loose to do his thing with starters on the floor.

it's a 3 point shooting league and the cavs play bad defense and dont shoot the 3 well. this alone doesn't bode well for the team.

Opening night optimistic observation:

This is definitely the last year of TT on the Cavs!

only works to make the best of what you have...yeah no elite 3 point shooters besides Korver. Same as last season.
The pace and uptempo style they are beginning to employee are the keys to this roster as is having a winning season.
Toronto as good as they are were getting gassed down the stretch and as bad as the Cavs played in the 2nd and 3rd I think we will beat them
with our style of play later on.
