The US finally has a good team this time.

Fill me in. I am soccer stupid, but i do enjoy the world cup.

Do you think we advance, who are our best players, anything you can give.

I'm just one level above you in this regard. I just tuned in to the last two qualifiers because I bet on them. Someone else would be better qualified.

Team USA has a victory (1950) and a draw (2010) against England. The lone goal in 1950 was assisted by the father of former Browns PK Matt Bahr. Clint Dempsey's goal in 2010 was hilarious as England GK totally botched an easy save.

Iran beat us in 1998. That year Team USA was awful, with MF John Harkes booter off the team ahead of the WC because he was boning ST Eric Wynalda's wife.

Wales is the best bet to make the WC of the three teams going for the last spot. They have ST Gareth Bale, a tremendous player who's older and a wild card.

USA should advance to knockout play along with England but they could fi ish first to fourth in the group. Christian Pulicic is probably the best player ever to play for team USA and we've got some other good players but they're erratic and had a lackluster qualifying campaign.

WC is Nov-Dec in Qatar. Some games will be on at odd times for us.

US is looking like shit against Japan in this World Cup warmup match.

Talent-wise, we should make it to the knockout stage. Most of the United States roster now plays in Europe in top flight leagues and several play for some of the best clubs in the world. The vast majority of them are under the age of 25 and many are 21 or younger. The talent is there. The experience is not. Neither is the coaching. Christian Pulisic is probably the team's best player and seemed to be on a trajectory of becoming one of the best wingers in the world before a string of injuries and a bad run of form has turned him into a rotational player at Chelsea. A really productive rotational player when he plays, but still not in their starting lineup.

Weston McKennie is probably your second best player. Midfielder. Plays in Italy for Juventus. Not elite in any one area but very good to strong in every category. Gio Reyna is probably your third most recognizable player, but he's been very young and injury prone while playing for Dortmund. His potential is probably the highest of anyone on the roster, he just needs to stay healthy. Because he's a starter for Dortmund when he is healthy and in shape and he doesn't turn 20 for another 2 and a half weeks.

Other notable players playing in one of the top 5 European leagues or for other top teams overseas: Brendan Aaronson, Tyler Adams, Sergino Dest, Matt Turner, Tim Weah, Yunus Musah, Antonee Robinson, Cameron Carter-Vickers, John Brooks, Reggie Cannon, Jordan Pefok, Josh Sargent, Luca De La Torre, James Sands, Konrad De La Fuente, Ricardo Pepi, Joe Scally, Malik Tillman, Timmy Chandler, Matthew Hoppe, Mark McKenzie, Erik Palmer-Brown, Kevin Paredes, Tim Ream and the list goes on for a while.

Some of those guys won't make the team simply because there isn't enough space. Others will get snubbed in favor of certain MLS players who continuously get called up to the national team despite not performing very well for their teams in the MLS. We do have a few MLS players (Jesus Ferreira, Walker Zimmerman, Miles Robinson -- who will likely miss the world cup with a torn Achilles) who are at least serviceable and pretty decent, but you'll see guys like Paul Arriola, Jordan Morris and Christian Roldan who are seemingly included in every roster no matter how much or how bad they are playing for their clubs.

Im not the biggest fan of Berhalter. I honestly think he has some good qualities that get rightfully overshadowed by his poor team selection, running a system that doesn't fit most of our players skillsets and stubborn lack of in-game adjustments. I think we have a weird group stage and get knocked out. We'll draw with England, beat Wales and then shit the bed again against Iran. That's how it will go.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

We are a week out from USA V WALES. 2pm start next Monday. Last week 26 man rosters were announced. https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...6-player-usmnt-roster-for-2022-fifa-world-cup

As always there was controversy with the expanded roster 26 from 23. Notables that were surprises, made the roster-shaq moore, Jordan Morris, Christian Roldan and Haji Wright. missing from the roster, Matt steffen(making turner the starting GK), Paul arriola, Marcus Tillman, and Pepi.

Will be interesting to see how the young guys perform on the biggest stage. Center backs and strikers will be the positions of concern due to injuries and lack of development/form. Can Berhalter get the most out of these guys or will we be waiting until 2026 cycle? We will go as far as the midfielders can step up and be the big time players we think they are, pulisic, McKenzie, Reyna, and arronson.

Really surprised at the exclusion of Pepi in favor of Jordan Morris. At only 19, he will be a regular on the USMNT in the future. He seemed to take it in stride (as best as he could) and I have no doubt he will be back in the squad after the World Cup.

Not surprised, but disappointed at Jordan Pefok not being included either. I think he would have been groomed as the Jozy Altidore replacement under a different manager. He's 26, so unfortunately if he's out this time around, I think he doesn't have much of a shot in the future.

Also disappointed that Darlington Nagbe fell out of favor back in 2018-19. I think he would have been a great supplemental piece off of the bench. Best player that never was for the USMNT and I don't thing Gregg made much of an effort to court him back.

That being said, pumped to watch the best team we've had in a long time. I'm not the biggest fan of Gregg, but am hoping for the best.

Canada will be a great watch as well. Alphonso Davies is one of the top defenders in the World, but actually plays striker or winger for Canada most of the time. He has a hamstring strain he picked up early November, but he was still selected and is hopeful to play in their opener. My father actually played for Canada back in the day, so will be watching both squads closely.

Bump this for the World Cup... Drove through an Ecuadorian car parade today in Queens that was fun.

Sounds like it is a mess in Qatar. Regardless this is the best event. I went to the cup in 94 in Chicago. Got to see Stoichkov play. Was an incredible experience cannot wait for the 2026 Cup in the states.

Morris is a winger--Pepi is a 9. Pepi got beat out by Ferreira, Sargent and Haji Wright. Morris took Arriola's spot.

Haji is a surprise, but he's played excellent at his club, so he made it in over Pefok and Pepi, and deservedly so. Pepi has had more opportunities than he can count, and has just consistently not shown up. Pefok is a nobody--a few club goals, but just isn't good enough.

I'm excited. While this team has been slumping as of late, it's still, by FAR, the most talented team the US has ever had. We have a handful of players who are all better than Landon Donovan or Clint Dempsey ever could have hoped to be--and they're all young as hell.

It's crazy that the only positions the US has historically been good at--Center Back and Keeper--are our weaknesses heading into this tournament (Obviously center back much more than keeper. I like Matt Turner).

Turner, Dest, Antonee Robinson, Zimmerman, Ream, Adams, McKennie, Musah, Gio, Pulisic, Ferreira? Let's fucking go boys.

You still have Aaronson, Acosta, LDLT, Sargent and Weah off the bench? You're absolutely stacked (as far as the US goes).

Whoever this lady is announcing Netherlands and Senegal is trash.
