The Walking Dead

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah, I was wondering about that too. My three thoughts on it are:

1) Producing ammunition still takes resources, and we are seven years after the war with Negan. Maybe they just ran out of excess stuff to make the bullets with and only have a select amount of available ammo.

Then at least say that. But introducing Eugene manufacturing ammunition years after the beginning (without ever touching the resource issue) and then completely ignoring it is lazy writing.

3) All the ammo in the world wouldn't have made a difference against that mega-horde that Alpha showed Daryl in the last episode, so they'll have to do something different to fight them.

You'd use guns against the Whisperers themselves, not the horde. They've been concentrated enough on plenty of occasions.

But how do you know who the whisperers are and who actual walkers are? That's why they are a really unique threat. You need to be super cautious all the time because you never know when a walker is going to pull out a shiv and stab you in the heart.

I agree, they could have said something about the ammo, but I'm led to believe that the survivors have a decent stockpile, but Daryl knows it wouldn't be enough to fully eradicate them all.

But how do you know who the whisperers are and who actual walkers are?

We've seen multiple occasions where it is clear. When they all came to demand Lydia and threaten Hilltop -- those were all Whisperers. When Daryl, Michonne, etc., were attacked, they killed the zombies with ordinary weapons, then the Whisperers themselves came out. A couple of M-16 would have come in quite handy there. They know what Beta looks like, and his size marks him from a distance. And I strongly suspect there are going to be a bunch of other times when Alpha, etc, will be obvious.

Pretty good season finale. Mostly character driven rather than plot-drive, but good. The Lydia/Carol storyline brought to mind the episode when Carol was with Tyreese, and had to kill that one little girl who'd kind of snapped for the good of the group. In a sense, she faced a similar choice here. Different results, obviously.

Yep, Angela Kang did a fantastic job this season, especially since we lost Andy Lincoln, Lauren Cohan, and Tom Payne to outside issues.

Her character episodes were phenomenal all season long, really can't think of too many dull moments. Lydia's actress stands out as phenomenal to me. Real excited for season 10, especially if Lauren Cohan comes back to the show.

Agreed on the girl who plays Lydia. She conveys a ton just with body language and facial expressions.

I do think Kang sometimes is a bit ham-handed with the emotional stuff - some of those scenes just go one line too far with the melodrama. But she's still a better showrunner than the last guy.

I'm thinking that she may be the one who stuck Henry's head on a pike so she wouldn't have to do any more scenes with him.

I wouldn't blame her, either.

I enjoyed the finale. A little confused as I haven’t watched much of S9 but I get it overall.

I still miss the hell out of Rick and the old crew, but I think I may give S10 a go.

Yep, if we get Maggie back, there will still be a solid cast and crew of actors for next season.

Daryl
Maggie
Judith
Michonne (for like 6-8 episodes before she leaves)
Carol
Ezekiel
Negan
Lydia
Magna
Yumiko
Connie
Aaron
Rosita
Eugene
Gabriel
Siddiq
Jerry
Alpha
Beta

Definitely still some interesting characters in there for sure, even if they're not all "household names" like Rick Grimes, Glenn, Carl, and Abraham. The writing was good enough this season where we really didn't have to have Rick/Andy Lincoln carrying every major scene, which was really nice.

For sure. What I watched of 9 was good, I just...I felt Season 8 was a perfect ending to the story, in all honesty, and after hearing Rick, Maggie and now even Michonne are departing I wanted to just stop watching and have that ending be what I remember.

But I understand the show must go on, and truth be told I knew I wouldn't stay away. Caught some glimpses of Season 9 and really enjoyed what I've seen actually, the quality of the writing does seem improved at least in the small doses I've consumed. But look, I love me some Daryl...he's no Rick Grimes. Andy Lincoln just fucking carried this show for 8 seasons in my opinion. He was for the most part fantastic and without him I'm just not sure I'll ever be as invested.

Willing to give it a go, however, in Season 10. I think I'm officially back on board. Rest assured though when the Rick movies come out I'll be mainlining that shit.

Anybody still watching?

First episode this season was kind of cheesy, but still enjoyable to watch. Last two have been superb in my opinion.

Damn straight I'm bumping this thread god damn it.

Eight episodes left.
