I really liked the first episode but like a lot of you have said the direction this series is heading is weak. When a show that puts all of its eggs into the zombie basket has an entire hour long episode in which the most violent scene is that of a human beating up another human, there is a problem. I really hope there starts to be more actual interaction with the zombies or else im afraid this show will just fall by the wayside. It hurts me to say that because I am a HUGE zombie fan and had really high hopes for this show.

Show is great. I don't understand why some people want or even think there can be a show where you just fight zombies all day long. The human element is obviously a huge component because that's where the emotion and dialogue/story come from. The whole idea is that the zombies are there in the background the entire time. Even when they're not playing heavy in a storyline, there's this underlying feeling that they're around and could pop up at anytime, which is inherently more scary than just running around shooting them in the head all day.

Fans want gore and action. Directors know that witholding it until key moments and developing character leads to a more enduring end product. I know there will be more zombie scenes in the upcoming episodes. I don't think you can sustain interest in a show just about a zombie world, without strong character development. The show has definitely fit the bill up to this point.

Just started watching it two days ago and I am absolutely hooked. And not because of the zombies, but because of the character development. It's like a soap opera except where there would be soap commercials between the drama, there's a zombie being shot in the cock.

Kosis' post was excellent. There are some things I don't like, but overall The Walking Dead is absolutely brilliant. It really does an excellent job of making some of characters look as inhumane as the zombies.

This series isn't about zombies and never really was. It is about the people stuck in this desolate situation clinging on to what little they have left. The most horrible things that are done to people wind up being committed by other living humans.
