The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What specifically turned you off in 4? It was probably my least favorite but I can’t think of anything egregious.

btw once again I got it for $2 on Gamepass. Still wouldnt pay $60 for it unless I intended to rock the mp.
I don't like the new enemies. I think the swarm look goofy as hell and those robots are annoying as hell. And I also don't like the Kait/Locust connection at all. It's kind of funny that I had the same problem with Halo as well. Can't stand the new enemies and what they did with Master Chief in Halo 5 was just laughably bad.

But the thing that pissed me off the most was how The Coalition handled things post release. The release itself was a disaster (much like Gears 5 from what I heard)...but with all the bullshit updates they made, they literally never added new content. Was a spit in the face to people like me who spent money on the season pass to never receive new content. All they did was add new achievements to make us run through the campaign an additional 10 times and spend another several days worth of time playing Horde and/or spend real money to get the skill cards from their rigged boxes.

Shit, even Gears 1 added new fucking content post release, and that game came out in 2006!

As someone who was a dieheard Gears fan for years (particularly for the multiplayer), Coalition just killed it for me. And once I saw the first trailer for Gears 5 and what direction they were going with the story, I knew I wasn't getting it.

I definitely had the same complaints about Halo 5, lol.

Don’t share the issue with the Swarm though. Don’t find them any more goofy than the original Locust, they are pretty similar. If you don’t enjoy fucking up the enemies in a shooter, though, that will kill the enjoyment for sure. Halo 5 prime example.

Gears 5 won’t change your mind if those were your main issues, unfortunately. But I’m very glad I forced myself to play it. Originally wasn’t gonna bother.

Yeah, the issue with the enemies was much more about the robots. I hate those damn things :chuckle:

And yeah, the enemies in Halo 5 are even worse. Just brutal.

Yeah the Swarm are literally identical to the Locusts. And the robots are just Locust reskins for the most part. You've got the annoying ones that run at you, the grunts with normal guns, and then the heavies with big guns.

Also, if you have a Switch but haven't played Link's Awakening, you are wrong.

The nostalgia was absolutely real, and the new custom dungeons feature was really neat.

Finally got a Switch, now that the V2 with longer battery life came out. I am really loving this Breath of the Wild, but I'll keep Link's Awakening in mind once I get through this game. The Switch is an amazing system.

Riot announced a hero tactical shooter, a card game, and a fighting game last night.

Card game is already available and has started closed beta. Should release early 2020. They make good stuff, so I'm pretty stoked.

Getting back into Apex. Might stick with it this time. New map is tight.

I'm doing the same thing except with Fortnite. Brand new "chapter" of the game with a brand new map that flows 500x better than the original. Took all of the stupid guns and gimmicks out. Me and my buddies are having a blast.

Started playing Return of the Obra Dinn last night. Great game. It's basically an adventure game where you find yourself trying to determine the fate of a ship that was thought lost and then mysteriously showed up in port one day. You are given a journal to document your findings and a watch that allows you to see the moments surrounding the death of any corpses you find on the ship. From there, you need to determine the fate of each of the ship's passengers, along with figuring out who is who. The game only validates your choices in groups of three, so you can't really just guess until you get it right. You have to choose the manner of death, the name of the dead person, and the name of their killer (if applicable).

It's a really addictive game. I started playing it last night and wanted to keep playing to see more of what happened to the Obra Dinn.

I'd highly recommend it if you like adventure/puzzle games. I assume this one won't have an absurdly long run time either, which is ideal for my current life. If I can knock it out in eight to ten hours, all the better.

Pretty stoked for The Outer Worlds

I have Outer Worlds on preorder. I'd be lying if I said I know anything really about it other than it looks similar to Fallout and was made by the New Vegas team. Good enough for me

It is, and I've been playing it a lot lately. Usually just playing with random people but its still fun.

Red Dead 2 is finally coming to pc on November 5th. I've been so patient with this.
