@Chris is the thing you were talking about...

...playing as Abby for a bunch of the game? Because I actually did know about that I guess. I didn't really consider it a major spoiler since you play as her for half the prologue too. I'm actually still not to the point where you switch back to her, though.

I just got to the part where you run into Jesse and then steal the truck and have a fun little car chase set piece.
Yeah, you got it. It’s a huge portion, unfortunately.

I know you play as her early on but she amounts to roughly half the game. Was trying my best to tipetoe. Never know what some people will get upset about with spoilers.

I do get why it was necessary as previously stated. Just dont think it worked.

I will say, one thing I really appreciate about The Last of Us II is how all the human enemies have names. It adds a lot to the realism and immersion when someone finds a body and says, "They killed Garrett!" or something to that effect.

I finished the game last night. I'm not going to put a whole review in but I have some thoughts.

First off, the game literally had me on edge 90% of the time. Even when there was no conceivable reason to be worried, I felt like something was going to happen. I might have been breathing heavy for a large portion of the weekend, haha.

I think what they did with splitting the time between the protagonist and the antagonist was a very interesting idea. I get why they did it, to kind of put out the thought we only think the people we followed through the first game were the protagonists because we followed them for the entire first game and the relationship they built was extremely emotional. But they were also very shitty people in the grand scheme of things. At least, Joel was. I also like the way they introduced Abby because the timing of certain events were surprising and I didn't see it coming until the very end. I think for the entire time you switch to Abby, the goal was to change your mind about her very slowly. Bit by bit. That's all I'm going to say for now since it seems like most of you aren't super far into the storyline.

Having to follow the Last of Us was an extremely tough task. And though I probably wouldn't play the Last of Us 2 again, at least not until 3 comes out, I still think through all the faults of mechanics, certain characters and repetitive long winded combat sequences, it is probably the best, if not one of the best games on the PS4.

Also, the music... I fucking love the way they handled that. The guitar playing. And the graphics might be the most polished visuals of any game so far. It felt like a long journey emotionally and physically.

Woof... just finished TLOU 2.

Dark, heavy game.... I’m pretty split on how I feel about the ending but my god it was still very well written none the less..

It will never compare to TLOU 1 for me, butfor what it was, it was okay to me. Tbh the whole time I didnt want to play as Abby at all, but I understand why they went the way they went.

The ending wasn't nearly as good as the first game (which, to be fair, it realistically never was going to be), although I do think it fit with the tone of the game and the story it was telling. Revenge basically cost both of the two main characters everything.

Main thing I didn't care for was the random baddies at the end who kind of just show up out of nowhere and you never really get a sense of who they are or what they're doing. That might be fine in the early or middle parts of a game, but having it happen in the final level didn't really work for me.

Bought Desperados 3 last night and played the first two levels. If any of you guys played Shadow Tactics, it's made by the same development team and features largely similar gameplay. It's a lot of fun if you're into tactical stealth games. Looking forward to digging more into it tomorrow.

Desperately need a new game to play on XB1.

Thinking Witcher or Dark Souls. Which one is better/which should I play?

Story does hold up even without knowing the intricacies of previous games.
It also has a pretty good in-game encyclopedia that basically tells you how Geralt knows everyone and describes all the monsters. That being said, I don't think it would hurt to watch a YouTube video that summarizes the previous two games.

Don't think we'll ever get that.
The sales from the second game make me think it's all but inevitable. As much as everyone bitched about it, they all still bought it.

It's the same reason we keep getting Star Wars movies despite the fact that there's been one good one in thirty years. People keep going to see the trash and so they'll keep feeding it to us.

Yeah, there will be a 3. And I thoroughly enjoyed 2 so, I will be interested in it.
