The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Went back and been playing Dragon Age Inquisition. Really enjoying it, got all the DLC. Lots of fluff quests but I just ignore what I find boring. I’ve been having fun gearing and building my party although the dragons are all still kicking my ass even at level 15. I probably just suck.

Not sure what to play next, we’ll see. Still got BotW going on Switch but I’m taking it slow.
If I remember correctly the Dragons are way overpowered. Most of them you can even attempt until you are 20+ level with most being closer to level 30. I died too many times during those encounters.

Still not anything exclusive the the Series X that is making me rush out and buy one, still have my 1X that is holding up steady. Halo will probably be that in the fall.

Bizarre because I googled it and people are telling me I should be able to kill the Hinterlands dragon at level 12 lol. That one scales with level however. My AI teammates also just run through the flames and die like idiots so I may need to just stack up fire resistance gear and use tactical camera.

What you said makes more sense, I’ll probably wait a few more levels too. Heard the dlc is a pain in the dick too. Will probably wait till 20 to attempt.

Agreed on XSX. I got one just because I had the opportunity, and I wanted to move my One X before it lost all its value. Got $250 for it actually so not bad. Really no rush on next gen otherwise. I’ll probably snag a ps5 this summer when they're hopefully available. Just to have it for when the games drop in the fall.

I still remember dying way too much to the one in the hinterlands, lol. I did enjoy the game overall especially since i'm usually not a big fantasy rpg guy.

Opportunistic is probably the best way to be for next gen. I should probably do the same, but *shrug* GamePass is dropped Pillars of Eternity, Nier Automata, and Octopath is coming soon to keep me occupied. But Rocket League is my jam and I'm moving at the end of next month.

Love the Dragon Age series. I doubt anything in the future will top Origins for me. A lot of people dislike 2, and I get the complaints from a gameplay perspective, but I still really enjoyed the story and everything with your party. That was always my primary focus with these games anyway. I think Inquisition really doubled down on theatrics at the expense of engaging side quests and non-monotonous tasks. Some of the best cut-scenes in the series and the sound-track is top-notch though. Very much enjoyable.

The main issue with the second game is that they released it before it was finished.

Blasphemy, video game publishers don't have a track record of pushing there developers to release content before it is ready /s

Looking at you EA, Activision... and practically every publisher

so sad the way Blizzard is going under Activision. They used to be my favorite dev. I see why Bungie detached that barnacle now.

It’s actually my first DA title and I’m really loving it. I’m actually a fan of all the meta systems at work and while I do think there’s a lot of fluff quests and chores, most of it seems optional except for the power grind. Which, I mean, I played WoW on and off since release so clearly I don’t mind a little grind (though my free time is waning in recent years).

Actually glad I played it as now I find myself anticipating Dragon Age 4. Even if it’s 2-3 years away which it may be. And even if Bioware is... kinda on the shit list lately.

As long as you go in with knowing that it shouldn't be bad. I liked the gameplay of anthem and story in the gated area was solid. overall it was just meh.

Mass Effect Andromeda got hate b/c it also released too soon, plus it wasn't the main studio. I still enjoyed that game and am hopeful for the new Mass Effect game.

If you were ever considering playing any of the others, I can't recommend Origins enough. Especially if you are playing on PC. Just a wonderful game from top to bottom. The "Warden" that occasionally comes up on your war table or other random stuff is the player from from Origins. One of the things I like the most about Dragon Age is the carry over of your decisions from prior games. Although that has not meant as much in the more recent games.

Andromeda was good. I couldn’t get invested in the story or characters like I did the original trilogy, but the gameplay itself was very good. It was a solid entry after the updates and stuff. But the story was pretty shite

You don't need a base station with the quest 2. I can take it to the garage and play in a huge play space instead of setting up boxes and needing my computer there.
Yep, well aware. But the head-mounted tracking is nowhere near as good as the tracking with base stations--especially for tracking controllers down around your waist and whatnot.

The main issue with the second game is that they released it before it was finished.
And the main issue with the 3rd is that they released it 6 months before the Witcher 3. DAI had amazing reviews and everyone loved it for the most part, then the Witcher 3 came out and brought RPG gaming standards by a good 5 years.

At least it wasn’t fallout 4 releasing after the Witcher 3.

Dr. Beef has made some excellent VR ports for Doom 3, Quake, Quake 2, Half-life and Return to Castle Wolfenstein on the Oculus Quest. This should no doubt be awesome as well.

I have several games where your gun is holstered at your hip level (Walking dead: saints and sinners, onward and Lies beneath). I haven't had any issues pulling weapons from my holster or from over my shoulder while playing. The simplified controls is one of the reasons VR is excellent. You don't need buttons binded for things like switching weapons, picking up items, or even reloading weapons. For ports like doom 3, quake, ect. that isn't the case, but those games were never intended to play in VR, but are still an amazing experience.
