The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I went back to knock out the half of the Weeping Peninsula that I didn't do yesterday and have been finishing that up today. I basically did the eastern half of the peninsula early in the game before going to Stormveil to take on Margit and Godrick, and have since made it inside Raya Lucaria, but I wanted to level up a few more times organically and there are still parts of WP and Limgrave that I haven't touched yet, so I figured now was as good a time as any.

Ended up finding a chest that teleported me to the motherfucking capital, which led to a talisman that slowly restores HP! Seems useful.
So, ah... I completely disregarded the Weeping Peninsula until I had beaten two demigods/shard bearers (and am about to face a third).

Needless to say, I am comically over leveled right now.

Me to every enemy in that region:

I finished Raya Lucaria Academy a few hours ago. It wasn't too bad, honestly, at least once I figured out the optimal strategy for dealing with the various enemies, many of whom are resistant to magic attacks. Rock Sling would have been ideal in most scenarios, but the corridors were often too cramped for it to be viable. Instead, I opted for a combination of glintstone pebble, dodging, and using the +9 rapier I got from Rogier at the Roundtable Hold.

One of the toughest fights is, I assume, that room with four or five mages and the giant pot, but I was able to take out all of the mages from a distance with rock sling because the opening to the room was wide enough for it to work, which just left the pot to deal with. He almost got me with this spin attack that closed the distance a lot quicker than I expected, but I was able to get away with a little health left, recharge, and beat him down with magic.

The fight in the next room with the staircase was a lot tougher, mostly because there were more enemies in the room than I first realized, and I almost got overwhelmed. The Red Wolf of Radagon was next, but with my wolves to distract him, I got him on the first try. Rock sling did a ton of damage to him, and then I just had to dodge until his aggro switched back to the wolves.

I got some neat new Burger King masks to wear around, too.

The Carian Knight was kind of a bitch. I figured out a strategy for dealing with him through two rounds of trial and error. He would either dodge or block my frontal attacks with his shield, which either dealt no damage or so little that I didn't notice it, but if I let him get to middle distance and cast rock sling, he'd typically roll toward me to start a combo. He'd get a hit in, usually, but he'd roll in front of the rocks I'd just pulled from the ground and they'd proceed to slam into his unprotected back, interrupting his combo so I could roll away. Once he swapped his shield for a staff, I found out the hard way in the first fight that his magical sword attacks were devastating at close range, so I fell back and used ambush shard to finish him off.

Rennala I didn't find to be all that difficult. Got her on my second try. The first try I got sort of screwed by being a ranged fighter, as I found it goddamn impossible to lock onto Rennala when her shield dropped because of all the other enemies crawling around the ground. The first two times I got her shield down I barely did any damage because I couldn't get her targeted with my rock sling. After that, I just switched to my sword and stabbed the shit out of her. It ended up taking me five or six rounds, and I was out of health potions by the end because I kept getting pummeled by that tombstone barrage attack she does once per round. I made it to the second half of the fight, but the delay on her beam attack baited me into dodging too early and she got me.

The second round I knew what to do, and I was able to hide or dodge the tombstones when she threw them at me. I got her in four rounds, and the fourth she only took one hit, which gave me the opportunity to summon my wolves. I summoned them in the first fight too at the beginning, but found they were pretty worthless and they died well before phase two. Phase two was easy this time around, as I had two health potions left and my wolves to keep her aggro. Just hammered her with rock sling in between her attacks.

Not sure what my next move is. I guess to go activate her rune. Any suggestions on what area to go to next?

There's so many awesome different side quests you can go and do from here. That's basically what I've been doing this week :chuckle:

I'm just now getting back to the main stuff. About to head into the Capital here soon.

Cleared Redmane Castle today (finally). The last boss fight was interesting, to say the least.

Basically, be ready to get on horseback and immediately get the fuck out of the way, because the boss can almost one shot you with his ranged attacks and you start probably a good quarter mile away from him, so he will be spamming them to start.

I found myself the Grand Lift of Dectus. That was a cool moment. The sheer scale of some of the shit in this game is staggering. It makes you feel like an ant. There was a group of assholes apparently laying siege to the road that leads to the lift, but in true Dark Souls fashion, I nope'd the fuck out of that confrontation and just rode right through them. They had a horseback knight but I don't think he even bothered to chase me.

Unfortunately, I only have one half of the medallion needed to presumably activate the lift. Guess I need to figure that out next in addition to exploring a bit more of Liurnia. I haven't done much other than the lake section, so I've still got the cliffs on each side to explore. I've also got a handful of tombs/caverns in Limgrave to check out, and the Siofra River region as well.

I'm probably done for the night, though.

Best game I’ve ever played. I’m level 60. 46 hours of gameplay.. I went strength samurai build not using summons.

Been difficult at times but I caught myself exploring so much, a lot of the map is revealed.

I’ve kinda been all over the map so I’ve visited a lot of missed locations and been over leveled. (Can’t say I mind)

Having so much fun playing this game. I can’t put it down

Horizon Zero Dawn on PS4, no not Forbidden West. Clearly I'm a bit behind on the times. I'm enjoying it.

Elden Ring can be so weird. I fought the boss that gives you the Moonveil last night. Magma Wyrm? Something like that. The first time around, I got riggity riggity wrecked. I don't even think I got a hit in and the fight lasted maybe ten seconds.

Second time around, I didn't get hit a single time and killed the boss in about thirty seconds.

You got gud.

Welcome to the world of FromSoft. :)

Finally had some more time to play Elden Ring the past couple of days after not really getting to play it at all over the weekend.

Finished up Caria Manor. Fuck that place. I knew I had to get through it to get into Ranni's quest, though, and also to get the Sword of Night and Flame. Loretta's Bow seems like a decent spell too, especially to snipe things from a distance. I didn't find the actual Loretta fight to be all that difficult. Really, the only time I died was from accidentally rolling off the fucking walls fighting those stupid blue ghosts that pop up everywhere. I think I died four or five times from my own stupidity, but zero times otherwise.

I also did a bit more exploration of the Altus Plateau. I killed a space worm that was hanging out in a crater outside the walls of Lyendell. Then I started exploring the forest and found some absolutely horrifying creatures that vomit worms/eels at you, and an even more horrifying larger version of those creatures by the minor erdtree in the area. Finding out that the status effect those things inflict on you results in instant death (via tree impalement?) when it builds up all the way was super fun. Got him on the second try, though.

From there I made my way to what I can only assume is the village from Midsommar, with creepy people dancing around with Joker-esque smiles. Nice to have at least a few people who aren't trying to kill me, I suppose. I got to the base of Mount Gelmire after crossing a rope bridge as well, although I'll be saving the trek up the actual mountain and finding Volcano Manor for another day.

Tonight, I rode around Liurnia for a bit and inadvertently found a mine that is apparently the secondary path up to the Altus Plateau. Strange to have a mine mini-dungeon where all the elevators go upward rather than downward, but given that I'm pretty wildly overleveled for Liurnia stuff at this point, the only enemies that gave me any trouble were a giant land octopus on a narrow ledge and the boss.

I ended my session after taking the final elevator up to the plateau. I found a site of grace by what appears to be the aftermath of a massive train derailment, with box cars scattered everywhere across a valley. Figured that was a good place to call it a night.

Finally managed to beat Elden Ring. Got the "good" ending too. Would have beaten it a week or so ago had I not been on vacation.

Just an incredible game. A few of those boss fights were just brutal. Especially Malenia...easily died to her over 100 times.

Now I'm going to do some item collecting stuff before starting NG+. Unfortunately I missed a couple legendary armaments so will have to get those in NG+

Also going to focus more on cosmetics now that I've beaten the game. Thinking of making a Witch King or Sauron looking character. Gonna try some different builds out, too. Gonna try using more incantations this time around..thinking flame and blood in particular.

Finally jumped on the Elden Ring ship last week and my god, this game is just remarkable. I'm about level 45 and am struggling my way through the Wizard's Academy right now.

My favorite thing that has happened was in my first hour or so in the game and I was exploring that swamp near the starter area. I saw a bunch of those noble guys stumbling around and saw about ten free kills. Next thing I know, Daenerys Targaryen swoops down on Drogon and absolutely torches my ass.

Between this game, and The Show 22, my gaming catalog is absolutely booked through at least May. I know I'm going to run at least two or three more playthroughs of ER.

I just bought it. Zero dawn. Played it for about 5 hours and just could not get into it. Going to give it one more try.

Just a tip, but there are a lot of accessible rooftop paths in Raya Lucaria that lead to some good items, especially if you're playing a mage class.
