The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Picked up Guardians of The Galaxy PC game on Steam a while ago when it was on sale. Finally got around to playing it. Holy shit, this game is a fantastic narrative experience so far. Highly recommend if you like story driven adventures and/or like the Marvel Universe. It's not tied to the MCU or anything. Refreshing to have a new take on Marvel stuff. It's nothing like that Avengers game that came out a while ago which was widely panned.
I assumed it was a re-skin of that Avengers game with Ms. Marvel as the main protagonist. Never played it even though it was free on game pass.

I'll give it a shot if I'm bored one day. Thanks

This is going to sound weird, but the vibes I got playing through it were more akin to Mass Effect 2. You go on missions around the galaxy with the other guardians, make decisions on how you want to proceed, or on disagreements between party members. They each have their own special abilities that you use for gameplay purposes, and between missions you walk around the Milano and speak to each of the crew about various things. Nice interweaving stories between the crew members and the larger over arching plot.

Combat is fine, but I really find myself drawn to the narrative and banter between the party members.

Oh, and the soundtrack is GOAT level. I don't want to know how much they paid for the licenses to some of the songs they have, but there are a lot of original tracks too (both traditional orchestra and rock n roll Star Lord type tracks for his walk-man)

Just checked, and apparently it won best narrative at the 2021 Game Awards and was nominated a bunch for audio/song collections.

I been playing Persona 5 Royal.

I don’t love it, and I don’t even understand why I keep coming back to it (still within the first 15 hrs of the game)….but I can’t walk away for good. I don’t know what it is.

I can see the similarities to Yakuza Like a Dragon, but it’s not as good, in my opinion.

If you haven’t played GOTG you’re missing out. Way, way better than expected. Don’t let the Avengers game cause you to judge this one before you play it.

I got the release on P5 royal for switch like two weeks ago. Already over 100 hours in and just need to beat the final boss. Game was pretty good but super hard to put down. Ive enjoyed it

Been playing God of War: Ragnarok.

Best part so far is the first section where you play as Atreus and he tries to punch open a coin chest Kratos style and almost breaks his hand. :chuckle:

I took days off this week just to make sure I beat God of War before being spoiled. Man what a game. Kratos has been around since 2005 and I remember begging my older brother to get me the first game. Can't believe it's been 17 years.

What Santa Monica studios is able to do with the character is rarely seen in TV, let alone video games.

Also kudos to Bear McCreary once again on that soundtrack. Makes every battle feel epic and there's one scene in particular with the music that's straight up perfection.

You bitches making it very difficult to hold off buying GoW

Why wait? It's basically the biggest release of the year outside of Elden Ring.
Just pointless to drop $70 on games while I’m playing 38 other titles at this time, lol. I bought DL2 at launch for full price and recently started playing it. It’s $25 now…

Fair enough. God of War instantly went to the top of my queue though.
